It seems our daughter Kelli is always in a wedding. Â Just as soon as one wedding has passed she gets asked to be in another wedding. Â Being in the wedding party brings on a lot of responsibility and one of those responsibilities often involves being part of planning a wedding shower.
Here’s an idea I came up with that would work as a fun and festive sign in “guest book”.  The  quilt can be located at a table at the entrance.  As the guests enter, they can sign a message on the cream border of the quilt.  The bride to be can take the quilt home as a keepsake of her day.  Of course this can be used at a baby shower or birthday.  The quilt can be expanded to include four presents and be used as a wedding guest book.
I made mine using my AccuQuilt GO! Â If you want to make one, here’s what you need:
1- Â 6 1/2″ square for gift block
2- 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles for gift block
1- 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ square for gift block
1- 2 1/2″ strips gift box “ribbon” Â sub cut into 1- 31/2″ piece, 1- 6 1/2″ piece and 1-10 1/2″ piece
2- Â 3 1/2″ cream strips for border
2- 2 1/2″ strips for binding
1/4 yard fabric for the bows
Heat and Bond
AccuQuilt GO! Sparkle Diamond die
Large Button
fat quarter for backing and batting scrap
Sew the gift block pieces together as shown. Â Press.
Then sew the 10 1/2″ piece to the piece as shown creating a present block.
Add 3 1/2″ cream borders.
Layer a backing fabric, batting scrap and the block together. Â I like to use a basting spray between the layers to hold the pieces in place. Â Machine quilt as desired. Â I “stitched in the ditch” around the package and around the “ribbon”.
Bind.
To make the bow, cut a piece of heat and bond and two of bow fabric that is big enough to cover the die. Â Iron the heat and bond to the fabric. Â Pull off the paper. Â Put another piece of fabric on top of the heat and bond and iron it in place.
Place the fabric on the large diamond using the GO! Sparkle Diamond and run it through the cutter following the manufacturers directions.
Sew with a 1/4″ seam around the diamond. Â Make four diamonds. Â Fold the diamonds in half and tack in place. Â Sew a button on to cover the ends of the bow. Â Your project is complete.
