After some miscommunication, Kelli and I finally made it to the Stitchery Nook on March 18th. I feel so bad that I am only telling you about it now. Trust me…I was so excited and had a wonderful time. It’s just that immediately after that is when I found out my cancer had morphed into a big problem. It ended up overshadowing my trip a bit. But…now that the cancer stuff has a plan, I am excited all over again and can’t wait to show you all my goodies.
I will start by saying my daughter, Kelli, has already dove into a project. Kelli bought Olive from the Animal Cracker series and immediately started her. She is a goose (or duck-I guess it doesn’t say for sure) Kelli has a cute plan. She is going to stitch three little geese. They all get a bow around their neck. She is going to stitch one with a pink bow from Georgia, blue for Eli, and green for Emmett. I think it will be so cute!! You can find the pattern HERE.

I would like to stitch this at some point as well. I think it’s so cute and would be great especially for Spring.
Now, about our day… we had a great time. I was in shock. I walked into the store, and Liz, the owner, said to me, “Jo, before you start shopping, you might want to see what’s here for you.” I was a little confused. Then she said that some of you had called in and had Liz set aside some of the projects I had wanted to buy. I had a couple of gift certificates there, too. Oh my. I could have about cried…well, in all truth, I did get a little teary-eyed.
I had been trying to balance spending money and anticipating some couch time with my cancer diagnosis. I knew I could use a little pick-me-up with some new projects…and oh boy, did I ever get a pick-me-up.
A kind blog reader had this there ready for me to pick up. It’s Stitcher’s Garden Berries. They are SO CUTE!! I’m really excited about these. They should stitch up quickly and be perfect for display in my new cabinet. I got this pattern home and realized I need to get some 36 count linen…or I might do them on 40 count. It really wouldn’t be that much of a difference, since they are so small. You can find the pattern HERE.

Another blog reader bought this and had it there for me. I love this…I love all Blackbird Design things…You can find the booklet HERE.

It is designed so it can be stitched like this…All as one piece.

Or they can be stitched individually, too.

I have tried really hard not to page through this very much or make any decisions with it. I thought on a day when I’m feeling crappy, I’m going to pull this out and study it…then make a plan. It was an amazing treat now and will be an amazing treat then. I love paging through books like this. It is meant to be a family tree of people who have passed before the stitcher. All of them don’t need to be stitched…a select few can be stitched. SO FUN!!
I had said before I went that I wanted to get Patriotic Pears from Annie Beez Folkart. I found those right away. I already had the red fabric in my stash…I bought the blue…and I didn’t have the three threads needed, so I got those too. You can find the pattern HERE.

I was hoping I had some cream linen for the white pear…I came home, and it turns out I’ll need some. I have all 40 count. Hmm. So that’s on my list to purchase. I figured out that the Stitcher’s Garden Berries also calls for 36 count. So I’ll get a quarter-yard cut and do the pear and the strawberries on it.
I had With Needle and Thread on my list, so I picked that up. I needed a few threads for it. I got those too. You can find the pattern HERE.

Pip from the Animal Crackers was on my list to get. I got her. The pattern for the needle book is also included. Kelli wants to stitch one too. I think it’s so cute!! You can find the pattern HERE.

I want to find a good way to display it. I didn’t look at the linen size for this. I probably should.
I got caught completely off guard with this display they had in the shop.

Those little pincushion-type things are called biscornu. See them in the stack? They stacked on each other SO CUTE!! Remember that blue and red linen I had to buy for the Patriotic Pears??? I immediately remembered it. Hmm. I thought I could use some of it for these. I asked Liz. If I remember right, the bottom one was done on a 28 count. The blue one on a 36-count. The third from the bottom on 40 count, and the top one was done one over one on 28 count. Oh my. I loved them.

I would keep these out all year!!
That book ended up jumping into my basket. I love big samplers, but I’m starting to have to ration myself a bit. My wall space is shrinking. I still have plenty…but it is shrinking. You can find the book HERE.
Another thing that jumped into my cart was this book. I had wanted this book last Fall when it came out. It’s a Blackbird Design book. I never bought it. You can find it HERE.

I loved the little pillow on the front of the book. It says, Let us in Love and Friendship Dwell. I think it is so appropriate for nowadays.
The book is called The Walker Sisters because of these two samplers. They were originally stitched by two sisters; only their names were on them. The designer updated the samplers and stitched them in honor of herself and her sister. I thought about stitching them for me…and my sister. Then I thought about stitching the sampler on the front of the book for my mom.

The book also has this drum in it.

It is similar to the pillow. I haven’t looked at this book except to see that the samplers are small…like 8 x 8 ish. I am saving this for a day when I don’t feel well as well.
We asked Liz what the most popular pattern she sold from market was…she said this…Tomato, Tomahto by Needle & Moss. You can find it HERE.

Kelli and I thought it was interesting, but it didn’t entice us enough to purchase it. Liz said in the fall, the designer will have a pumpkin pattern that is similar.
That covers me…Well, I got some threads too, but that was more than enough…Again, THANKS SO MUCH to everyone who treated me at the Stitchery Nook. I can’t begin to tell you how blessed you made me feel.
Here are Kelli’s buys…She got the new All Things Wise and Wonderful book from Heartstring Samplery…and Linen. This needs a 1/2 yard, so it was spendy. You can find the pattern HERE.

I love this one as well, but I’m struggling with Consider the Lilies, which is the companion piece, so I refrained.
She got the pack of new colors from Classic Colorworks. Two of them are needed for the chart.

Other than that…she got LOTS of threads.

We really had a great time. It is a great mother-daughter trip for stitchers.
Since some of my stuff was gifted to me, I treated Kelli to lunch.

We will have a great time stitching and sharing our progress…but more than that, we had a great time together.
Thank you, thank you for making my day with the gifts that were waiting for me at the Stitchery Nook. Truly. I am overwhelmed and so thankful!!

Oh what fun! It makes sense to buy a book or pattern before you can’t get it anymore!
A visit to The Stitchery Nook is always a Grand Time! Looks like you then had a great lunch at Teluwut which is always good as well! Happy Stitching!
PS I went to the Stitchery Nook but waited until noon hoping it wouldn’t be as busy. I, also, found a few things!
Angel’s truly walk this earth…
Sounds like a very successful trip! You and Kelli found lots of goodies.
You should kit up some of them to take along next week, no distractions – you could get alot of stitching in! I hope all goes well next week! ❤️
What a fun time both of you had and some really nice items for future stitchery. I particularly like the stacking drum set. Enjoy these lovely outings.
Reading this post just warmed my heart. What a fun day for you & Kelli… like kids in a candy shop! Have fun deciding which project to do first.
Surrounding you with love and prayers. ❤️
What a wonderful day and lovely surprise at the shop. Lunch with your daughter is the cherry on top! Hugs,
I’m so glad to hear you had such a wonderful time at the Stitchery Nook. And what a blessing you got too! All the projects look terrific.
In one of the pictures, below the biscornu are two circular pattern that are patriotic – do you happen to remember who produced them? I saw them once before and could kick myself for not saving the site!
Love and prayers
Donna, the circular patterns in the display window in the pictures with the biscornu are by Jeannette Douglas Designs. They are from a range with animals: Chubby Bee and Chubby Fox are two I can recognise. I don’t believe there is a patriotic pattern in that range. But perhaps you are referring to something else.
Oh, Jo, what a fun-filled post to read on this rainy, very cold morning! Your enthusiasm, as well as this weather, puts me in the mood for some all day stitching. I bought Annie Beez Patriotic Pears as soon as they came out! The pattern & suggested linens sold out FAST at 123Stitch. I was lucky to get the pattern before it was gone. This morning, I got notification the red linen was back in stock. Yippee! I hopped right over to their site and got that, plus the special red and blue Week’s threads. Oh, and this year’s new Prairie Schooler Santa went into the “cart” as well. I have every one from the very first issued in 1984. It’s likely they’ll never ALL be stitched up, but I sure have enjoyed collecting them the last 43 years. Will pray for you during daily stitching time. ~ Suzanne in Michigan
I looked ahead before market when Annie Beez announced that Patriotic Pears was going to be released and ordered the red fabric then. HA!!
You are a smart lady, that’s for sure. It’s such a unique red. Can’t wait to see it in person and start stitching. It will be fun to make these together. I wonder if anyone else is doing them?? ~ S
Love going shopping with you! Your choices and explanations are always interesting, too!
Glad you enjoyed your trip to the Stichery Nook! And that you found a use for the gift certificates ;-)
