You might remember we had a quilt, Stair Steps, in an issue of American Patchwork and Quilting. Â Well a reader recently sent a Facebook message to me with pictures of their version of our quilt. Â I think this version is wonderful.
The creator writes:
I’m a 3 yr quilter and I wanted to share my version of Stair Steps. I saw it in the APQ magazine and thought this would be fun. I must admit I was a little daunted about halfway through with the HST’s but I hope you like this version. Thanks for a great design- George Jackowski
and here it is shown with the backing fabric.
Isn’t that fun! Â When I made mine, I made it all scrappy. Â I had never invisioned it with controlled colors. Â This is awesome. Â It really looks great don’t you think?
If you don’t remember our version looked like this.
If you are looking for the pattern you can find it August 2016 issue.
No matter if you scrap it up like we did or make a controlled version like George did, the quilt is sure to be a keeper.
Wow! George worked fast! Good job, George!
Oh My! Am so glad I don’t have to choose between the two. I love them both! Scrappy is always so pretty and goodness knows I have plenty of scraps. George has one beautiful quilt and I do love the colors he used. That backing was a bit of a surprise
My hat’s off to George. Yes, that many HST is a little daunting, but he came through like a champ.
Oh, My, I was so glad to see your post today! When you posted the picture of your Stair Steps (same as above), I didn’t see a reference as to what the pattern was or where to find it, so you can imagine my happy surprise today, not only to see your beautiful quilt pictured again, as well as George’s, but where to find the pattern, so I’m off to the APQ website to see if I can order the August 2016 issue. George’s quilt is really great in the color-controlled version and I, too, like his colors. Congrats to you both, and thanks so much for telling us where to find the pattern!
I found a copy of the magazine at my local library…so happy to have it…its now on my to-do list.
With the controlled colors, it looks totally different. Hats off to George for the quilt and Jo and Kelli for the pattern. George’s quilt reminds me of a afghan that I have that is done in the ripple pattern. I love the backing fabric also.
