On the Frame: Kelli’s Oz Quilt

I can’t tell you how much I love my APQS Millennium.  While I was working on a quilt a couple days ago Hubby came upstairs to check on me.  I was happily quilting away.  I told him for the 100th time how much I love my machine.  He said, “Ya, I know.  You tell me all the time!!”  Then he said, “I can tell, you don’t cry all the time when you are working on a quilt.”  That is SO true.  With my old machine, I was always upset.  I used to have to talk myself into going upstairs to work on a quilt, now,  it’s not that way at all!  I gladly and happily work on quilts.  NEVER before would I have ever volunteered to quilt other people’s quilt tops for any reason at all!

A couple weeks ago I told our daughter Kelli to start bringing some quilt tops home and that I would start quilting them for her.  Here’s what I am working on now.

I hope we end up liking it.  I put those huge free motion flowers in the setting triangles.  The colored part just has a really small stipple.  So far I like it but once it is off the quilting frame, I’ll know if I really like it.  I using Maxi-Lock® Swirl – Variegated Thread 3,000 yds – #51 Orange Creamsicle thread and so far, so good.

The quilt is an older fabric line from Moda called Oz.

Stay tuned hopefully we’ll be able to show you a finished quilt soon.

  1. Wonderful quilting!! I know what you mean about being upset quilting on a dsm. I keep procrastinating because I find it very hard to quilt on mine. I did buy a new machine with a bigger space but I haven’t had anything to quilt. now I have 2 quilts waiting to be quilted and my machine is in the shop.

  2. OHHH I like that quilt. Love the colors. So glad that you got your new long arm and love it. Thanks for all that you do and for sharing.

What pattern is that for the blocks? I really like that pattern. I might be able to manage to get it right. Beautiful quilting.
