Quilt Finish: First Monday

I’ve been at the quilting machine.

I’m legal to work on anything that can be washed after I’ve gotten it all full of my germs.  That means any quilt I can quilt as long as I am going to bind it and then it get washed.  That means I can work on quilts that are mine or Kelli’s.

Up today on the frame is Kelli’s quilt.  It’s a Miss Rosie’s Pattern called First Monday.

First-Mondays

Kelli opted for a dark background and honestly, I like it better that way.  Here’s what the original pattern looked like….It’s a matter of taste and what type of look you’re going for.  The original pattern with the white background is more spring like and fresh.  Kelli’s is more tradition.  Either way, it’s a nice pattern and cute design.

Ruby is so bored without kids here to entertain her.  Today I could finally get out of the house with her.  She’s so much happier if she gets a walk or bike ride.  For that matter, I am too.

I have a feeling you’re going to see lots of on the frame and quilt finishes this week….I don’t think anyone will complain about that though.  I know I won’t.  I am still on a mission to get control of the quilts that need to be quilted.

After this one got off the frame I went straight to binding it.  There is nothing worse than going from having a huge pile of quilts to quilt than to go to a huge pile of quilts that need to be bound.  I’m trying (at least a little) to bind as go.

Here is is all finished.

First-Monday-1

I have to say Kelli sewed this one in her early days.  With the string pieced borders I’ll admit there is a tuck or two (not much more than that-and well disguised) to tame the waviness they had.  From the pictures you don’t see a thing though.

First-Monday-2

It’s actually been nice to work on several of Kelli’s quilts at once.  I can really see how her piecing got better and better over time.

First-Monday-3
I really love this background color.  I don’t know quite how to explain it.  It’s almost charcoal but almost eggplant too. I love it.  It definitely isn’t purple….somewhere between egg plant and charcoal.

I’m sure when I get to my Wonky Wishes quilt, that I might need a tuck too….my own piecing is far from perfect.

Well that’s another one done but there are plenty more…..Stay tuned.

  1. Beautiful! Even with the health issues, it must be nice to quilt some of your own quilts. Hope your recovery is a quick one.

  2. I really like that quilt with the dark background! I might have to pull that pattern out and look at it again. I have a pile of Civil War strips smaller than 2″ that just might work!

  3. I just got home from a trip to IOWA! I bought a noting from the factory and toured the factory! So neat how they make them all there!
then I cam home and the first thing in my email is a post from you! LOL I should have thought about it and stopped in! But I didn’t :(. If I ever go back there I’ll let you know. Hoping I can get as fast on my quilting as you are.
