Sunday morning I was up early before church. Â I couldn’t sleep so what’s a better task than to start in on some charity quilts. Â This one was already on the frame so it was easy to quick tackle it before church. Â I even got it off the frame.
I started loading the next quilt but it had to stop and get ready for church. Â While driving to church I got a message from the neighbor girl. Â She was at my house and wanted to know where I was. Â I told her I was going to church but to come back to my house at 12:30 and she could eat lunch with us…so she did.
After lunch we went up to sew. Â We got the batting loaded and away I went. Â She was a great help. Â She filled bobbins. Â She took the lint roller and roller the quilt. Â She released the clamps and helped the machine get reset for the next pass.
Isn’t this quilt fun?Neighbor girl loves it.

I am so happy to be back to working on charity quilts. Â I’m hoping to get a few more done this week. Â I can’t tell you how happy I am to have taxes behind me and have a little more free time again. Â I vow every year to try to stay a little more on top of things… I do really good for the first part of the year and gradually I slip more and more until the end of the year comes and I’m behind.
Volunteer binders, watch your mail as hopefully next week I’ll have a couple boxes of quilts to send out.
I would bet that sweet neighbor girl would love to have a quilt of her own. I have the one my aunt gave me many years ago and it is my treasure of treasures.
Jo, I don’t comment all the time but I read your blog all the time and wanted you to know how much I enjoy it. You have a way with words and it’s so fun getting peaks into your every day life adventure. Bless you for taking your neighbor girl under your wing. She’ll never forget you.

Your neighbor girl is so lucky to have the attention you give her…she needs it as do all little girls with working parents. They need just that little extra and you are opening up all kinds of different experiences for her. Don’t get me wrong I’m not against working Moms. I was raised by one and was one but I had a neighbor like you that helped fill the gap. She was a treasure and taught me all kinds of valuable things that I would not have learned at home just because her life was different from ours. Not saying it was better or worse it was different from ours. She had no kids and no longer worked so she had time to just do stuff and teach me stuff like baking a pie, planting flowers, watching birds, etc.
