On the Frame…

I’ve been trying and trying to keep the quilt frame busy.  I haven’t done the best at it.  If I didn’t make any more quilt tops and did one quilt each week, I’d likely be busy through summer.  There are so many here….

I have seen so many people showing off their Allietare mystery quilt.  I thought maybe it was time for me to get to finishing mine up.

It’s on the frame and going.

If you follow me on Instagram or on Facebook you might have caught me doodling a design for this quilt.
Poor Kelli gets a photos every time I start a put a new quilt on the frame…typically they start out like this…
“What thread?”  Followed by a phone call.

What would you have picked??

We picked the brown way to the left.

Next I send Kelli a doodle picture…

What I’m working on here is from the book  Step-by-Step Free-Motion Quilting: Turn 9 Simple Shapes into 80+ Distinctive Designs Best-selling author of First Steps to Free-Motion Quilting.  I mention that book all the time.  I love it and will snap up any other books this author comes out with.

Then finally I start on my way to quilting the quilt.

So far, I’m not super happy with how this quilt is behaving.  I am starting to think that I didn’t do a light spray starch as I was ironing.  It just isn’t laying as flat as I like.  I’m powering through though…There are no serious problems..just not my favorite…

I’m off to see if I can unload a couple more bobbins worth of thread before bedtime.  I’ve got lots of quilts waiting to be in this one’s spot.

  1. interesting choice of thread, but not my personal first choice.
but having it done is the most important part, and not the thread color.
good for you on powering through!

  2. I have both of Christina Camelli’s books and have been watching her beginning FMQ class on Craftsy. (The class I don’t have corresponds to the book you mentioned. I think.) Anyway, Christina has a brand-new Craftsy class on Wild Quilting. It looks rather closely quilted for my needs, but you might want to check it out. She also has a blog, “A Few Scraps.”
