When our daughter Kelli and I went to Okabojji for the quilt retreat, one of the gals there was talking about how her husband went with her to quilt shops. Â She said that he would look for novelty prints that would represent a letter of the alphabet. Â The idea sounded neat to me and I could actually imagine doing that with my husband.
I had forgotten about it until a quilt was sent to me to machine quilt for the residents of West, Texas. Â Here is the finished quilt.
Here is a close up shot.
In the center row there is the letter “H”…in the following blocks are a house, hearts, Halloween, hippo, hexagon and horse.
Kelli and I liked the idea of making a quilt like this so before we sent it off, we compiled a listing of the novelty prints. Â I thought I would offer it to all of you as well. Â Here is a link to the listing of alphabet letters and novelty prints that would work with them.
I think I am going to print a list and put it in the glove compartment of the car. Â Next time Hubby is with me at a fabric shop, I am going to start him on the list.
This is such a cool idea – could even get the kids or grands into the act – love it!!
get your colors in there too, B—blue, brown, black etc…and the numbers and shapes for the letters: S–square, O–orange, one, T–triangle, two, three, turquoise.
It would make a great snuggle under for the little ones.
Thanks for sharing! This will use up some of my Eye Spy fabrics!
