Yesterday was our third or fourth day off with a prolonged power outage. So what did I do? Garden. Lots of gardening!
I picked and pulled weeds. Then I picked some more. Once the power came back on, I started canning….
12 quarts of pickles.
I also cut up these cabbages along with 10 others and made about 8 gallons of sauerkraut.
That’s out fermenting in the crock. I’ll can it about 6 weeks from now.
I am actually really glad the electricity was off for pole maintenance and upgrades. It got me out to the garden. The weather yesterday was perfect for it too. I was so sore last night with the up and down steps and work of it all, but I’m so glad it’s done. I can’t wait for the new house. I’ll do this kind of work out in the “kitchen” in the garage!! Now kraut is checked off the list…the more things I can check off, the more time I’ll have to work in the new house…rumor is we close tomorrow. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
glad to hear you are closing tomorrow. It will be nice your extra hard work will go into some thing that will be your own. Lots of work a head but it will be so nice in the end.
I’m excited for you! You have waited a long time and will love this house! Micki
Good thing you got the double wedding ring quilt quilted before the power was out. Maybe it wouldn’t be a big deal, but I think I would be fretting and wondering if the power was ever going to come back on. Your pickles look awesome!
When we moved into this house, we had a generator put in. I made sure my sewing machine and sewing room lights were hooked in. Didn’t want to go through withdrawal.
