So have you heard about “The Keepers” yet?
Many of you know that I’m not a big television watcher. Â I do occasionally hit on a Netflix show and binge watch. Â I did that with Man in High Castle and The Crown. Â I did it with The Keepers too.
If you like mystery- Â If you like true stories- If you want justice to be served- I think this might be a series you could get hooked on.
Hubby does not like Dateline, Unsolved Mysteries or any real life murder shows. Â Me, I’m the complete opposite. Â If he is clicking through channels to see what is on television if he suspects that a true crime show might be on, he quickly rushes through that channel.
I will warn you. Â The show deals with sexual abuse, along with corruption in both the Catholic Church and in the police department. Â It’s so sad to see people in power use that power against others when they could use that power for good.
All of the girls in my family have or are watching The Keepers…it’s had us all in some pretty lively discussions.
Thanks for the recommendation. I’m always looking for things to watch on Netflix while I do my time on the elliptical! Ugh!
Dont read the Wikipedia entry. It gives away the whole story.
The movie, Spotlight, is about the same subject. It’s one of the best movies with great acting that I’ve seen in a long time. Very difficult subject though.
I just finished The Keepers. My son told me I should watch the series. Pure evil pretending to be Christian. So much corruption in the Catholic Church, but I think that kind of evil and corruption can occur with other religious leaders too. Yes, I agree that Spotlight was an excellent movie too. So sad how many young lives have been affected.
“The Keepers” was my most recent treadmill watching. What an incredible teacher and human being Sister Cathy must have been to inspire former students to seek justice for her decades after her death. In the process they brought another tragedy to light and helped many more women. The story is both hard and heartwarming to watch.
I’ve gotten through the first 3 segments and it’s very disturbing. That something like this could go on is just incredible. It’s very scary and sad.
