Mystery and More

I had sewing time!!!!!!!!

Wow.  What a wonderful feeling.  I had time to sew which made me super happy.

I’ve spent LOTS of time in the sewing room but not all was good quality sewing time.  I’m still cleaning and organizing.  It’s a slow and steady process but I’m getting to the point, I’m LOVING the results.  I can’t tell you how much better I feel every single time I go in there.  I know where stuff is.  No more hunting and hunting.  Ah…it’s totally been worth giving up sewing time.  I have a ways to go yet but so far, so good.

I have today and tomorrow off…then I have the 28th through the 1st off….only two days of work this week!!!  The rest of the sewing room is going to happen over break.  At least that’s what I keep telling myself.  I’d rather go slow and feel good about it vs hurrying through.

I’m doing good on Hunter’s Star.  I started it when Bonnie put out her first wave of book sales.  It’s the free pattern that comes with purchasing her book from her.  I’ve been sewing on it since I got ordered the book.

Last week I decided it should be bigger so I counted how many more pieces I needed and made them.  Then I sewed the blocks together.

I’m not ready for big blocks yet.  I need 24 more neutral string blocks…

..and I need about 100 more red string blocks.
That shouldn’t take to much more time.  I’m getting anxious for this to get done.

Last week I did a post about how I sort out my scraps…for this I was referring to the small scraps that work for string blocks or crumb blocks.  If you missed it, read about it here.  I had a wonderful response to that post.  I have a follow up to that post scheduled for later this week.  The new post will talk about how I do color for string blocks….I know many people think anything goes…I don’t.  I’ll tell you more then.

I’ve been hurrying through the clues and then sewing on Hunter’s Star after that.  I’m hoping I might get the two quilts done at about the same time.  How fun would that be??

As for clue #5…here’s where I am at with that….

They are all sewn.  I’ll have family here all week in and out.  I’m setting these out in the laundry room and will iron them in between things.  My family is so used to the “squirrel” in me that it’s normal for me to be “doing” while visiting.

It sure was nice to have an short clue this week.

I’m getting anxious to see where this quilt is going!!

That’s it for now…We have business today and church tonight.  We’re an open presents on Christmas morning family.  Hope your day is merry and bright.

I know there are some of you who struggle with the holidays.  Hang in there.  Better days are coming!!
