Yes there is a giveaway, I’ll get to that in a minute…First things first. If you have read my blog at all, you know that my daughter Kelli and I are big quilting buddies…
Well my buddy hit the big times (well at least as big as it gets in our little world). She has a quilt featured on Moda Bake Shop today!! I think it’s a beauty…..
It was made with a Moda Fat Quarter Bundle of Barabara Brackman’s Battle Hymn 1862 fabric line. Kelli added a Moda Solid in Parchment and in Brown to complete the quilt. I am so in love. The quilt is more complicated than most of the offerings on Moda Bake Shop but don’t let that discourage you in trying to make one.
Yes, there are lots of little pieces(Kelli is the QUEEN of little pieces) but once you have made one block, you just keep making more and before long, you’ll have all of them finished! I really like this fabric line…the colors blend but aren’t matchy pooh-pooh. I love the brown with it too….again blending but no matchy pooh-pooh either. Perfect!!
I have such a great time sewing and crafting with my daughters and my sons. I am super blessed to have them and really quite proud of each of them…
Kelli sewed lots of these blocks when we were having our sewing Saturdays.

Love your new quilt! I haven’t made anything with Civil War repros yet, but I will before Febraury. My local quilt guild is having a challenge, and they are due then. We swapped 3 FQs and can add whatever we like to make a quilted item for our swap partner. Civil War repros were required. Lots of panic going on, as most of us have not worked with them before.

No, I have not made a quilt with Civil War reproduction fabrics, but I do have a nice fat quarter stack of repro. fabric. I was just re-doing my stash cabinet and found them and saying to myself “I need to make something with this.”
I have not used the Civil War Reproduction fabrics, Yet! The color range is what I love. Subtle, calming, warm. Would love to have some.
No I haven’t yet made a project with Civil War repros, but our guild does have a speaker coming in July that comes in full Civil War dress and is offering 2 workshops done in Civil War prints. Would love to try them out!

My local quilt store had a block a month project using civil war fabrics, it turned out great. It had over 1900 pieces. Love Kelli’s quilt.

My first quilt using reproduction fabrics was the Underground Railroad quilt and I have been in love with Civil War repro fabrics ever since! I love using them in quilts of all sizes. Congratulations to Kelli on her quilt, it is beautiful!

Our UK quilt group just finished a quilt using civil war fabrics this week! We followed Eleanor Burns’ ‘Underground Railroad Sampler’ and the whole group was involved in choosing fabric, cutting, piecing and quilting. We read loads of books, and found civil war era knitting and sewing patterns on the internet which non-quilters in the group are making. We had such a good time doing this project together and I’ve been planning posts for my blog about it – so watch this space!
Taste in fabric is really different here and Civil War fabrics are REALLY hard to find. Eventually found Moda’s Warm Memories and made the quilt up in that. I did the bear’s paw and loved the result – lovely colours and ‘feel’!
I love seeing quilts made with Civil War reproduction fabrics. After visiting Gettysburg, my husband and I became very interested in that period of history and have travelled to several other battlefields. We also love to quilt so these fabrics combine 2 of our interests. Haven’t gotten around to making a quilt with them yet but plan to in the future. Your daughter’s quilt just might be the pattern we’ll use. It’s a really attractive quilt.
I made a sampler quilt using civil war prints years ago. I have always been drawn to quilts made with them. Trying to build my stash to make another with lots of little pieces.

Civil War fabrics are my passion! Most of my quilts are made in CW fabrics. I’m proud to say that I completed the Civil War tribute quilt from Barbara Brackman’s Block of the Week blog. Or I should say that the top is pieced and ready to be quilted!
Love the quilt! Have not used civil war prints yet.. Going to cilvil war weekend at greenfield village this weekend and will be looking at the quilts they have made … cant wait!
Kelli’s quilt is beautiful! What fun that the two of you are able to quilt together. I am teaching my daughters (ages 5 and 8) to sew and it’s so much fun to work on (small) projects together.
I have never used Civil War reproduction fabric but I have seen some patterns recently that would look great with it. Something else for my project wish list :-)

Wow! I can’t believe how many people have never used reproduction fabric! It is my favorite and I have a huge cabinet full as well as lots of bins with projects in progress. Yes, I’ve completed more projects than I can count. I just finished the binding on one of Barbara Brackman’s older projects – Civil War Crossing. It was also a Moda fabric line. Thanks Barbara for another great reproduction fabric and Kelli for posting this pattern.

Ohh, I have always longed for a civil war stash category but I have also been trying not to buy new fabric for a few years so I usually admire from afar. I love the colors and the prints and I just know I could come up with project for some should some ‘drop into my lap’!

I am working right now on Barbara Brackman’s Civil War Block of the week. It’s my first repro quilt, and a very different style for me. I am coming to really appreciate the fabrics. Kelli’s block is so pretty!

A few years ago I did a project with students at the school where I worked using Civil War fabrics. It hangs in the hallway outside the office of the school.

I haven’t ever used Civil War fabrics, but I’ve wanted to! I love history and think it would be neat to have a quilt representing that era! Oh yes I’ve made quilts with Civil War fabrics–recently finished ‘Tales of the First Ladies’ quilts from Eleanor Burns (both 12″ bocks and 6″ blocks version–6″ blocks one is on inside cover of El’s book), Mrs. Clevelands Choice queen size quilt (also in El’s book) and I’m working on a basket quilt (4″ baskets) of all my Civil War fabrics. I’ve also made several other bed-sized quilts using 1800s fabrics. It’s always hard for me to choose between 19th Century repros or 1930s! I love them both soooo
