My Bathroom Remodel with Glidden: The Finished Product

Well it’s out with the old bathroom…. Bathroom-3 and in with the new bathroom… Glidden-Paint Can you believe the difference?? I have been living with the change for about a month now and really love it. Everyone who sees it says wow!  I know I love it and that’s what is most important. Sadly the bathroom is so small I can’t get in to take lots of different angles for a real show and tell. I think the two pictures that I do have tell it all though…frumpy and kiddish to a great farmhouse  bathroom. I was really nervous about this whole bathroom redo because I am absolutely AWFUL at making decisions. In fact, I told our daughter Kalissa I was going to town to pick out paint and asked if she wanted to come with and she said no way Mom. It will take forever. Little did she know that I had already done my homework. I used Glidden® paint’s awesome new program called My Image Inspiration.  I took a picture of our bathroom flooring hoping for some inspiration and I got it. Glidden-1 I could see the colors that I was aiming for. Armed with that, I headed to the wallpaper store first. Wallpaper in not my favorite, but the walls in the bathroom need it to hide some not so good walls. So I just needed it for half the wall space. Determined to not drive myself crazy with indecision, I walked into the store, grabbed two books that looked most likely, and started paging through. About ten pages into the first book I found something I really loved. I knew I could easily live with it but I finished paging through the book. I swayed…did I really need to look through more books…No! I felt confident with the wallpaper because it matched the color scheme that Glidden paint’s My Image Inspiration had suggested. I didn’t even page through any other books. It was the fastest decorating decision I had ever made. I waited for the wallpaper to come in the mail and then went back to town. Again I was impressed with Glidden paint. There wasn’t chip after chip after chip to choose from. There were just a few, and for people like me who have trouble with decision making, that was perfect. Again I was in and out of the store in no time. Shower curtain selection, curtain selection, soap dispenser, even towel selection was so easy. I felt confident because I had the My Image Inspiration colors in mind. Working in a space that is as small as my bathroom was a bit of a challenge but very do-able. In two days time, I was completely finished with the whole project including wallpaper removal, ceiling painting, tile painting, trim painting and wallpaper application. I was very happy with the paint. I loved the ceiling paint. It goes on pink and dries white. It made ceiling painting a breeze. Glidden-paint If you are a regular blog reader, you know that we recently bought a new house and I am going to have to leave this bathroom behind. I won’t be leaving that paint behind though. I think one of the bathrooms in the new house will be sporting some of these same colors…I love it that much.

    I need to redo my son’s old room! I’ve taken down his bunk beds, but need to patch some of the walls, and repaint the ceiling and walls. It’s also a small room, and has blue carpet, which can’t be changed. I also have a blue/purple batik quilt to go on the bed. I’ve picked some “other” brand paint chips, but I’m not crazy about any of them yet. I’ll play with the Glidden program. The bathroom looks great! Very inviting and classy.

    I NEED to redo my bathroom, the wallpaper is starting to peel. I’ve looked for wallpaper and nothing quite hit my fancy. But I love yours! Please tell me what wallpaper book it is from. thanks

    Great transformation! Amazing what a little paint can do. I have several rooms I need to paint but the top of my list is my kitchen. My painted white cabinets are looking rather tired and the backsplash needs a new color. Fortunately I can retreat to my sewing room!

    YES!! My son bought a house and moved about a year ago. I’ve been needing to remodel his room into a guest bedroom but haven’t been able to decide on color/style, etc! This Glidden post is wonderful motivation and inspiration!!

    I also need to redo my bathroom. I moved in with my father after my mother passed away. The wall paper is 25 years old (and was ugly to begin with!) Of course, I’ll need to replace the pink counter top also!!

    We moved from IL to AL in June, and the master bathroom needs to be repainted! The original color is too yellow greenish brown for my skin. They also tried to patch with a close but still different brown. We changed the towel bars leaving a couple of white places needing to be patched. I also really hate the lights over the vanity, but replacing them will leave areas that need to me patched and painted. In other words — the whole master bath needs attention.

    Thanks for the offer! Our main bath really needs a paint job. We’ve been in this house since October ’07 and we painted every room in the house before we moved in but the main bath. The bath is updated with granite and higher end cabinetry but it’s nothing I would have chosen. They also put a weird finish on the walls that I’d like to knock down and repaint the walls and ceiling. I’d lean more toward an eclectic cottage type feel in that room. I’m hoping with new paint that it would make the rest of the bath a bit more desirable for now ;c). Paint can work wonders sometimes!

    I am SO EMBARASSED of my bathroom. The walls are flaking and the ceiling needs a major paint job. You really inspire me and I too love the colors that you used. I live in an old farmhouse and the bath was last done by my MIL in the 1970’s so it needs help. Paint would help me feel less ashamed!!!

    The bathroom remodel looks nice.

    I think if some chair rail were installed between the red painted wall and the wall paper (not around the bathtub), it would really sharpen the look.

    Within the last year, we have repainted nearly every room in the house…except the master bedroom because we could not decide (or agree) on a color that we would both want to live with every single day. I change my bedspread often, so I am afraid of picking a wall color that would limit my options for bedspreads. Basically, I am too indecisive and I don’t know if I will ever settle on a color…so either my walls will remain white, or I will begin changing the wall color as often as I change my bedspread.

    I’d love to paint my daughter’s room next but it will be quite a chore because she has this bed with drawers and we’d probably have to take apart to move it!

    I really need to do something with my kitchen. It has not seen a paintbrush in the whole 10 years that we have lived here! Pretty sad, huh?

    I want to paint pretty much every room in the house. Unlike pretty much the whole rest of the world, I’m happy enough with the creamy white color the builder used, but what I can’t stand is the way it gets dirty if you just look at it. And it can not be cleaned. It has to be touched up every time it gets a mark. Which is pretty much daily.

    I already bought a pretty shade of lavender for the laundry room, which will be antique laundry themed, since I have an antique drying rack and an antique ironing board, among other things. It’s going to be so cute!

    After that, I want to do the master bedroom. I just have no idea which color I will use.

    My husband and I are converting our garage into my quilting room. Got to run electric,paint walls and put windows in. Add lighting where I want my quilting machine .     I’m going to turn one of our bedrooms into an office for my Hubby! I don’t think he would be too thrilled about the lime green and lemon yellow walls that are in there now! :)

    The only room that’s been changed in the past few years is my kitchen. I really would like to make a substantial change in the living room and give it some personality.

    My house was built in 1935 and I think the last update was in the 60’s.
    A kitchen redo would really make me smile! New Glidden paint on the walls and cabinets would be awesome!

    I’ve got three rooms that are ready for new paint. All three of my sons are no longer at home and I’m looking to redo their rooms. One will be my sewing room and the other two will be for guests.

    I would like to paint my bedroom. It’s all white and has not been repainted since we first moved in 21 years ago. A touch of color would really bring it to life.

    Oh, I know where you are with the color choices! I can not decide on colors! Whether it’s for fabrics, paints, wallpaper or whatever! I’m in the middle of paining my bathrooms too! I was not happy with the paint I chose for the first bathroom. I need to go check out the Glidden site!

    YES! I would love to repaint my living room. We painted it 7 years ago a color called Fava Bean that we thought was going to be a totally different color than it ended up being! It turned out to be a sage green color that we never have liked. We have just been too lazy to redo it! LOL

    I like your bathroom but then it’s very similar to one of ours :). I want to paint our dining room next but we just finished with my daughter’s room so I think I’ll wait a while.
