Momma Cat and Kitten Update

You might remember that on Tuesday, I told you the story of Anders finding a momma cat and a litter of kittens in the bottom of my egressed window. If you missed it, you can read the story HERE.

Shortly after I ended the last post about the kittens, I was able to get this picture of Momma. She is just gorgeous.

Kalissa came, and we decided to get her some food and water.

There is a ladder to the bottom of the egressed window. Kalissa used it to get down and check her.

She was very thin and hungry. Kalissa gave her food and she was eager to eat. She was putting everything into the kittens as they were plump and healthy.

She rubbed against Kalissa and seemed very friendly.

Kalissa picked up Momma, and we found four cute little kittens.

Momma was very friendly and relaxed.

We debated what to do. Rosie had been by her earlier, and the two did not like each other at all! Kalissa was in touch with the group she works with. They were helpful in offering funds if we needed them, but they were hopeful that Kalissa or I could foster them. We decided that it would be best for Kalissa to. She has two garages… one is for storage, and that one would make a fine home for the little family.

Kalissa and the boys went home and prepped that. We thought we would get them out of the egressed window on Wednesday, but the rescue group coordinator recommended getting them out that night if Momma was already so friendly.

Kalissa took a small dog kennel that I had and put the kittens and Momma inside. She was able to lift it up, and I was able to lean over and grab it.

Then everyone got loaded into the van.

The boys were in love. I kept saying, “Remember, these guys all have to find a new home”.

I went to Kalissa’s and helped get everyone transferred. We zip-tied two big dog kennels together. We put the litter box, food, and water in one and the family in the other. They will stay that way for a couple of days until everyone is acclimated.

We have a bigger pen they can go in, but for now, we thought this was best.

The kitty’s eyes are starting to open. They are so cute. If anyone is interested in a kitten or Momma, you can find information from the rescue HERE.

I’ll do another post about them as they grow.

  1. What a beautiful cat! You all are so wonderful with the animals around you. That momma cat could not have found a better place to be with her babies. It looks like the boys love the kitties.

  2. That Momma cat found the right home to come to. I know you and Kalissa’s family will take good care of them as they wait for adoption. I hope it wil be soon. Thank you Jo, for being so kind to the cats and dogs.

  3. oh you guys are soooo sweet – and she is beautiful. Of course you rescued her.
She will take care of the babies – especially with food for her, poor baby. You might pick up some kitty vitamins for her – wow those are plump babies !!! I would also suggest you cover half of the cage with a dark-colored towel or blanket – drape it to the floor – then she will have a dark place to hide and sleep, and feel like her babies are hidden from any predators. Easy, and effective. The boys are so cute, this will be a great experience for them.

  4. Mama cat is beautiful, as well as her kitties. I wonder if she used to belong to someone. Anyway, I hope they can find homes when they’re ready. Thank you for taking such good care of them.
    Love and prayers
