I love oatmeal…really love oatmeal. If I could only have one thing for breakfast for the rest of my life, I think I’d pick oatmeal.
I used to always get the instant oatmeal packets. I loved them..but then once I got older and had blood sugar issues, I didn’t love the sugar content. They are loaded.
Then our daughter Kayla showed me how to make old fashion oatmeal (now my favorite) in the microwave. It’s so easy.
I just take a microwaveable bowl and put in 1/2 cup of old fashion oatmeal. I add 2/3 cup of water. I microwave it for 1 minute 30 seconds.
The it’s done and ready to eat. HOW EASY IS THAT??
I don’t end there. I add nuts or bananas or both and some stevia.
As a kid I love the apples and cinnamon version. That’s easy to do too. If I want that before I microwave the mix I add in a 1/2 of a chopped apple and a dash of cinnamon.
For me, this allows me to control the sugar. It takes out a step of processing and I can make it any flavor I want. All are wins for me.
Kayla sometimes takes this to work. It’s so easy for her. She put the oatmeal in a container along with whatever else she’d like for toppings. Then adds the water at work and microwaves it.
Quick, easy, healthy and delicious!
