One of my favorite things as a designer is seeing how you take one of the quilts Kelli and I designed and make your own. Today is one of those days when I can share a quilt made by you! In this case, it’s a Piccadilly Circus quilt, and it was made by Brenda.
Brenda writes:
Ever since I saw your Piccadilly Circus videos, I’ve known I would one day make that pattern.
A couple years ago, a quilting friend who was terminally ill gave me a big bag of orphan blocks and pieces. (She has since passed away.). Among those blocks was one lovely orphan block. I couldn’t just turn it into a tote bag or table topper. It had to be showcased. I immediately thought of the star units from your Piccadilly Circus quilt. But what to do for the center??
I had seen “my sewing room” demo for her rose blocks. That immediately came to mind.
So, I made the center of the star unit a rose. I guess you could call the resulting block a “rose star”.

Anyway, here’s the finished top. It will be quilted by one of the lovely ladies in my quilting group and the finished quilt will eventually be given to someone in need. I will send you a picture of the finished quilt.
I just wanted you to know you are inspiring quilters in many places with your beautiful work and great ideas.
Oh, and like you, I can’t throw away those bonus HSTs. So I find ways to incorporate them into the quilt.
Oh my. It’s so pretty. I’m sure anyone who receives it will love it.
If you haven’t seen our Piccadilly Circus quilt, here is the original. Well, this is actually the second one I made. The first one I gifted as a baby gift. I sent the pictures of it to American Patchwork and Quilting for possible publishing. They said yes, so I had to make another.

Magazine companies write the patterns, and they wrote it so the star points were paper pieced. I didn’t make it that way, so I recorded a series of videos to show you how I made the quilt without actual paper piecing. This is the resulting quilt. I wrote about it all in THIS blog post.

If you missed the YouTube videos on how to make the quilt. You can see them here.

It was an awesome quilt to make…I loved making it and would happily make another. I never said that about any quilts I’ve made.
Thanks so much for sharing, Brenda!!
If you make a quilt from one of our patterns and don’t mind having it featured here on the blog, feel free to email pictures to me at joscountryjunction@gmail.com. THANKS!

Wow – that’s a lovely quilt! I’m looking forward to the finished version. Thank you, Brenda, for sharing.
Beautiful! And the points – you didn’t lose them – I’m so jealous ;-)
Love and prayers
Such a soft and comforting looking quilt; a lovely way to honor your friend’s work. <3
Lovely quilt. I would like to know how Brenda did the center blocks.

I made the centers using the method demonstrated in this YiuTube video by “my sewing room” channel. Have fun.
