Made by You!

I have a regular feature here on the blog.  We have free patterns listed on the right sidebar of the blog, we have a book Country Girl Modern, we have patterns in our online shop and we have patterns often featured in magazines.  We have so many of you taking those patterns and making them in your own way and your own style.  The blog series features YOUR quilts made with our designs. We love the series as there is no higher compliment to a designer than to know you like our design well enough to spend your time and money to make it.

Sherry’s quilt is being featured today.  Sherry writes:

Christmas gift for The Baby Grand. Bigger quilt is about 60×70 and doll quilt about 24×30. Thanks for a great pattern.”

Isn’t it so cute?
You can see that Sherry really made the quilt her own.  She limited the color pallette to only shades of blue and teal with peach.  She opted to add three borders.  I love her version.  I especially love that cute little baby quilt.  How special!!

Sherry’s quilt was made using the tutorial I put together for our Brick House quilt.

You can read all about the quilt HERE.

This has been one of my absolute favorite quilts.  A blog reader sent it to me as a UFO.  I didn’t use some blocks.  I made well over half more blocks and had a fabulous time making it.

I went on and made three baby quilts using the same pattern….a boy version…Find our more about this quilt HERE.

and these two girl versions…

You can read more about these two HERE.

I have news that many of you don’t know…there will be another brick house quilt revealed in the coming year.  I did a whole different take on the quilt and it was picked up by American Patchwork and Quilting.  I think it’s slated for June publication…I don’t remember for sure.  All I know is that I think you all are going to love it.  I know I sure do and once it’s home, I’m keeping it.  I don’t anticipate gifting it ever…unless I have the exact right person to gift it to.

I made the quilt last year and didn’t show you all many sneak peeks of it so watch for that to be coming out.  I am certain a few of you will be wanting to make it.

Speaking of publications, Kelli and I have four quilts scheduled for the upcoming year with American Patchwork and quilting and two with Quilter’s World.  It’s a fun year on tap for us.

I am hoping one of the quilts in the magazine will tempt you and you’ll make a quilt that we can feature here on the blog in the Made by YOU! section.

Thanks so much Sherry for sending your quilt.  I just LOVE seeing them.

  1. Congratulations on upcoming publications. Since I pared back on subscriptions (budjet) I would appreciate your reminding us when they will be published so your fans can purchase the magazines. Thank you.

  2. Hi Jo, Looking back on your quilts, I really like your Square Dance pattern. Will it be released back to you and Kelli any time in the future? Will you make it available on your blog when Quiltmaker releases it? This is a quilt you mentioned in your recap of 2014 quilts made during your renovations to your house. Just curious if the magazine will release the patterns back to a designer after a certain period of time…

    1. It has been released but we don’t have any intention of rewriting the pattern. My best suggestion is to find a back issue.
