Made By You!

I’m going to make a new regular feature here on the blog.  We have free pattern listed on the right sidebar of the blog, we have a book Country Girl Modern, we have patterns in our online shop and we have patterns often featured in magazines.  We have so many of you taking those patterns and making them in your own way and your own style.  The new blog series will feature YOUR quilts made with our designs.  We are so excited to be launching the new series as there is no higher compliment to a designer than to know you like our design well enough to spend your time and money to make it.

I recently got a lovely email from Barb.  She made our “Black Magic” free pattern.  You can find the FREE PATTERN HERE.  It is also listed in the right sidebar of the blog.

I wanted to thank you for your recent post with the “Black Magic” table topper pattern. It came at a great time for me, saving my sanity. We have been in phase 2 for COVID for months now, on top of that we are stuck inside due to terrible air quality from all the wildfires in our area. Needless to say, I needed something fun and quick to quilt! I’m calling my version “Chainsmoker” to remind me of chaining the blocks during our smokey time.  I’m sending you a picture of the finished quilt and the smoke. Normally,  I can see Puget Sound, Whidbey Island, and the Olympic mountains from that spot in our neighborhood. I live in Mukilteo WA, which is just to the north of Seattle. We still are having a lot of smoke, but it is supposed to clear out later this week. The fires are getting under control, but have been horrible this year.”

There is our version.

Another blog reader sent a quilt that they made.  This one was from…Jeanine…she wrote:

“Attached is a quilt I made using a pattern you showed us on your blog.  I can’t remember what the name of it is.  I donated it to the infusion center at our hospital here in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  I enjoy your blog and get many ideas from you and others that make quilts for charity.  Keep the charity work going.”

WOW…Doesn’t it look awesome.  This quilt is and forever will be one of my favorite quilts ever.

Here is our version.

We actually made many versions of the same quilt including a low volume baby quilt see below….

…one more boy themed…

You can check out the pattern tutorial HERE.

WOW…I loved seeing the quilts that were sent our way.  It truly is so flattering to have people make quilts that were from our patterns.  You’ll have to stay tuned as next year American Patchwork and Quilting will be featuring yet another of our designs featuring the brick house blocks.  I really think you’re going to love the quilt!!

If you’ve made one of our quilts, we’d love to feature it here on the blog.  Please send pictures to me at rogjok@iowatelecom.net.
