I got some happy email from Rosalie. She made one of our quilts, Stars and Scraps Forever.
Rosalie writes:
Jo, I used your pattern and my scraps to make this quilt. I started cutting in May using Accuquilt. I took it to a retreat in June and then kept working on it. Finished and sent to the quilter in July. It was in our quilt show this past week and got third place and also Best Quilt representing Show Theme (Stars, Stripes and Stitches)
Thanks for a great pattern.

Kelli and I made this quilt several years ago. It was Kelli who sewed the top together. I did the designing and finished the quilt. Here is our version.

I gave the design to Kelli. I asked her if she needed any fabric. She said that she would just sew from her stash. When she brought it back, I was originally a little disappointed. For some reason at the moment, I just didn’t like the prints she picked. Now I know…I wasn’t happy that she didn’t follow my idea of creams and whites. She mixed creams and whites together, which I typically don’t do. I have a couple of blog posts about sorting fabric…
Scrap Sorting #1

I put the top aside, and a month or so later I finished it.
After it was done, I was in love with it…who cared about the mixing of creams and tans? I loved it. I ended up sending it in for possible publication. They took it. It was then that I realized I backed it with a sheet. Hmm. It went anyway.
I would still like to make one of these for myself. It’s such a pretty quilt, and scrappy is perfect for it!!
Thanks so much for sharing your quilt with us, Rosalie. It brought back some good memories for me. If you would like to make this quilt, lucky you! American Patchwork and Quilting is offering it as a free pattern. You can find it HERE. Just scroll the page until you see the quilt. The link is there.
If you have a quilt that you made from one of our patterns, I’d love to see it and feature it here on the blog. You can contact me at joscountryjunction@gmail.com.

I’m with you Jo. I don’t mix whites and creams together either. However, I love this quilt and mixing the whites in with the creams add some sparkle to it. I guess there is always an exception to every rule!
Both quilts are gorgeous! The white pieces add to the sparkle!
Well done, Rosalie!
Both quilt are beautiful! This is still on my to do list! I am a big fan of any red, white, and blue quilt.
That’s a beautiful quilt! Both pictures are lovely! Hugs,
The last time (not long ago) that you showed pics of someone else who made this, it inspired me to make it! I had saved the pattern way back when. I’ve started it but it’s nowhere near done—summer and all the outside work is keeping me from the sewing room. Soon it will be cool and I’ll be able to get back to work on this.
I just love this quilt!!
Both quilts are beautiful! Thank you for sharing and then also letting us know where we can get the FREE pattern amongst others too. I read through your Scrap Sorting 1-3 and they really have me looking at my stash. I’ve definitely got enough to get both a “white” stash and a “tan” stash. Thank you for these tips — the pictures were so helpful too.
