Lou Ann’s Quilt Garden and Retreat

A post from Kelli–

I’m betting that those of you coming to the retreat next week-(-YES!  NEXT WEEK-)-are wondering what your accommodations look like.  Well, I’m here to show you!  We will be showing each retreat location so that you can get a sneak peak of the fun that you will get to encounter.

Lou Ann’s Quilt Garden and Retreat is located in Oelwein, Iowa.  It’s right across from Kwik Star and within walking distance of several little eateries.  There’s even a movie theatre in town.

One of my favorite things about Lou Ann’s is the wonderful variety of fabric that she has.

She also has tons and tons of samples.  Mom and I loved this quilt!

She also has lots of fat quarters that you can buy and the cutest way of displaying them.

And then I found this little gem.  It didn’t come home with me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it does eventually.

I’m betting that those of you staying in Oelwein want to know what the accommodations look like as well–You came to the right place!  Here’s the space that we will be sewing in–

Lou Ann's 6 (400x300)

A few years ago, Lou Ann bought the building next to her shop.  Above the street level, there were apartments which she turned into sleeping rooms for retreaters to stay.

Aren’t the quilts just beautiful?  As we were going through and taking a little tour, it seemed like I was wanting to make all of the quilts on the beds!

Some of the apartments have 2 beds, some with 3, and even a few with 4.  Some of the rooms are connected as they may have been a living room and bedroom.

Mom and I have been to a few retreats and one of the reasons that we chose to host at Lou Ann’s was because it seemed like a retreat that we would want to stay at.  Everything is decorated beautifully and simply, which is right up our alley!

We are getting excited for the retreat.  We have a few lists that we are working on checking off to make sure that we have everything, but we are mostly looking forward to see some old friends and make many new friends.  Even if you aren’t able to join us at the retreat, be sure to keep checking back to see what wonderful things we’ve encountered and what cool projects we are working on.  We will be sharing plenty of pictures!

Make sure to come back and check the blog tonight.  We will be sharing pictures from the other retreat location.
