Leap Day Giveaway Blog Hop

It’s a busy day here at Jo’s Country Junction.  It the Quilt Square Quilt Along Parade….It’s “Waste not Wednesday” AND is the “Leap Day Giveaway Blog Hop”.  WOW!  If you are new hear and wanting to win goodies, don’t forget to check out yesterday’s “Try it Tuesday” post where I am giving away The Cutting Edge Rulers.

Elizabeth over at “Such a Sew and Sew”  is hosting a blog hop giveaway.  All of us on the hop are hosting one day giveaways.  I am giving away one of my all time favorite books, “Little Quilts:  All Through the House” by Alice Berg, Mary Ellen Von Hold and Sylvia Johnson.  My friends over at Martingale and Company sent it over.

This was one of the first quilting books I ever bought.  Back then money was really tight and it was the HUGEST treat for me.  It was published way back in 1993!!  The book is still in print.  That just goes to show what a classic book it is.

I bought my copy and made three different projects from the book.  All of the projects are worn and gone.  I had used them as table center pieces.  This log cabin was my favorite…Mine was scrappy with blue borders.

I made this one called Christmas Stars too.

This Harvest Stars was another I made.

I remember totally drooling over the pictures in the book.  I still love a country/antique/primitive type decorating.

There are lots of other cute small projects in the book that feature flags and Sun Bonnet Sue.

I took mine to the hospital when our daughter was born in 1995 and somehow, it got left there.  I called the hospital right the next day and they said it was never turned in.  I was so sad.  I mourned the loss of the book.  It was great to page through a copy again.  Like I said, the book is timeless….a golden oldie, but a goodie.

If you want a chance to win a copy, leave a comment here telling what your favorite quilt book is.  I’ll pick a winner tomorrow.   Remember to hop on over to Such a Sew and Sew to see more blogs that are hosing leap year giveaways.

  1. I just started sewing recently. I can’t put a whole lot of money into it yet so i haven’t gotten a book because i’m picky

  2. I’d have to say my favorite quilt book so far is “Lots of Scraps, It’s Time to Quilt” from House of White Birches. I have been wishing for a copy of “Little Quilts All Through the House,” though…

  3. Cute book! I have about 25 books and you know, I’ve not made a project from any of them — yet! I am a FQ junkie and I just cut out a project from “Fat Quarter Fun.” One of the books I was so excited about buying and still plan to make several little projects from is Lori Smith’s “Fat Quarter Quilting.”

  4. I really don’t have any quilt books yet, the ones I have are more about quilts than patterns, but I have been getting a lot of info from American Patchwork and Quilting magazines.

  5. Love that “Little Quilts” Book. Such homey, fun projects. I think my favorite book is one of the first I bought…”It’s OK if You Sit On My Quilt” book by Mary Ellen Hopkins. I learned so much from that book. Happy Day!

  6. I still don’t own a quilt book, so I can’t really tell you a favourite. I hope I can join anyway – I have to start building a little quilting library at some point. Thanks for the chance (hopefully)!

  8. What a great giveaway, thanks for the chance to win. My favorite book right now (and for the past almost year – it changes fairly quickly :) Is Bonnie Hunters latest book. I’ve actually made 4 quilts out of that book, I don’t think I’ve done that with any other book.

  9. I havent purchased any books yet so dont have a favorite. I have been looking at a couple lately that Im thinking I need! :) I would love to win this one!

  10. I love the Little Quilts book. Their shop is wonderful. I pop in every so often and am inspired each time I visit. Plus, there is a Krispy Kreme donut shop on my route to Little Quilts!

My favorite book is Spotlight on Neutrals. Pat Wys has done an excellent job with the book and the quilt patterns are timeless. I can see them in colors as well as neutrals.

  11. Hmmm I really only have one quilt book- Egg Money Quilts by Eleanor Burns, and I think it is ruined!!! It was in a box that must have gotten wet and well it is a nightmare and glued together and yucky!!! Oh man what a waste of a lovely book!! All I have for patterns around here are from the magazines I get at the thrift store. THe ones I have layng here are The Quilter’s Mag, Love of Quilting and Quiltmaker. I have a long list of books I would like to add to my library….. someday!
Enjoy the snow day if you are in my area. Happy Quilting!

  12. Good Morning! I have always loved “Little Quilts”. Such darling quilts. I think my favorite quilt book is one of the first I owned…”It’s OK if You Sit On My Quilt” by Mary Ellen Hopkins. I learned so much from this book. Happy Leap Day!

  13. Oh the first book I bought (Only been quilting 2 months) was my favorite I cant find it right at the moment its in the bottom of my new pile of material. But its from 2 Australia quilters and it was fantastic. Could use a new book for new ideas.

  14. It would have to be my Thimbleberries books. I love the look of Lynette’s quilts. Thanks for the great book that you are giving away. Looks like a classic.

  15. My favorite book is “Scrap Quilts” by Judy Martin. I made my first (gueen-sized!) quilt completely through the instruction in this book. Somewhere along all the moves and purges, I think I have lost this treasure. I am going to have to find a used copy out there somewhere and return this gem to my crafting bookshelf!

  16. Love the quilts in that book. My favorite book is Quilts from the Quiltmaker’s Gift. It is based on a children’s book and the quilts are gorgeous and wonderful instructions.

  17. I’m not sure I have a favorite quilt book. I do have 1 book that is now in storage and has been for almost a year that I have made 2 quilts out of, but I can’t remember the name, LOL.
I think it was something like Favorite Quilt Projects, but I could be remembering wrong too.

  18. Happy Leap Year. I have several of Jo Morton’s book. I love the civil war fabrics. This book looks like it would be a great one to have. We just moved to a farm in Kansas so I think I could get a lot of great ideas from it. Thanks

  19. Rhonda Desgranges

I actually do not have a “favorite” quilt book, but my most favorite for patterns is my collection of Miniature Quilts magazines. I have about 40 of them. I have patterns
marked throughout them with page tabs. I would love to have this book! Thanks for
    the chance to win!

  20. Well, I don’t have a favorite, but just won Cut the Scraps and have started 2 quilts from it – Love the information and tips in it too. Love small scrappy quilts – and inspiration.

  21. My favorite quilt book is Piecing: Expanding the basics by Ruth B. McDowell. It’s such an inspiration to look through. Thanks for the giveaway!

  22. My favorite book is Simplify with Camille Roskelley. Lots of tips and beautiful projects…eye candy for sure!!! Thanks for the chance to win your favorite book.

  23. I’m a newbie to quilting and money is tight so I’ve been borrowing quilt books from the library instead of buying them. And I also haven’t found a must have book yet. This book looks like an invaluable tool though. Thanks for a chance to win! :)

  24. My quilt book that I use the most is the Quilter’s Bible. I am fairly new to quilting and still have to look up stuff to see how to do it. Happy Leap Day! Thanks for the give away.

  25. You didn’t tell us if you ever replaced your own copy! My favorite is one of those collections of 101 favorite traditional quilt patterns — can’t remember the name of it right now.

  26. Every book I get is my favorite! I spend my money carefully, so if I don’t absolutely love a book, I don’t get it. This one looks wonderful and it is one I would love. Thanks for a chance to win!

  27. I’m not sure if I have a favorite but a book I turn to time and again for “education” is “Fons & Porter’s Quilters Complete Guide”. Thanks for chance to win this book (marshudson at comcast dot net)

  28. I’m not sure I could pick a favorite book, I love them all for one reason or another. But lately I’ve revisited some of my string quilt books, like Strings with Style and Liberated String Quilts. Thanks for the shot at winning this little beauty!

  29. I don’t have a permanent favourite but at the moment it is Jelly Babies – a gorgeous book by the Martingdale company about using jelly rolls to make baby and children quilts. It is fabulous.
I am going to look at some of these listed above. More money I don’t have to add to my collection. Thanks for taking part in the giveaway and bloghop.

  30. I don’t really have a favorite quilt book. I like several different authors and they all bring something different to the table so that makes it hard to have a favorite.

  31. My go to book for many projects is The Quilter’s Pocket Reference by Peggy Scholley. Had it for years and would never think of letting it go. Thanks for the chance to win your generous giveaway. Jane

  32. This book looks wonderful — I am loving mini quilts lately!! :-) I have several books that I really love, but to choose one, I’ll say “Darling Little Dogs” by Darcy Ashton– because of all the cute little puppies in it. I am trying to click off some items from my “to do” list and I think that a Darling Little Dog quilt may be my next project– I know that my 9 month old granddaughter would LOVE a puppy quilt.. :-)

  33. My favorite quilt book always seems to change as new ones come out…today my favorite book is Simplify by Camille. Thanks for the chance to win ‘Little Quilts’…..lately I’ve been making smaller quilts…like runners and table toppers. This would be a great book…(o:

  34. Right now my favorite is any scrap pattern book. I’m into using up my scraps. Thanks for the chance to win this book. I recognize it from the library and I really like it.

  35. Because I’m so new to quilting I don’t have any quilt books. It would be awesome to win this one! Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great giveaway!!! :)

  36. I don’t think I have any quilting books.. I get them from the library or just make up something simple. I am encouraged enough now to try something else. LOVE your name Jo!

  38. I love all of my books but I have yet to find THE book…maybe this will be the one (um, that is if I win it, lol).
