Kitting Up!

I don’t have many small cross-stitch projects kitted up. I hadn’t looked at anything I would like to stitch, so I decided to remedy that. I spent a little time looking through some of my charts and picked four that I wouldn’t mind stitching. Well, I wouldn’t mind stitching all of them…I just picked the ones that were higher on my list of things I’d like to stitch.

When I was picking, I tried to focus on things I’ve REALLY wanted to stitch and/or things that would be easy to pick up when I’m watching a ball game.

First up is this one…not an easy one for a ball game, but I’ve had this on my radar ever since it came out. I wanted to stitch it last year, but springtime stitching ran out.

This is Spring Awakens by With They Needle and Thread. I already had the thread pulled for it. I found linen and put it all in a project bag so it’s ready to go.

This will take some patience with all the color changes. It is small, though.

Next up is one I believe a blog reader sent me. This is Painted Threads Sampler from Threadwork Primitives. It looks big but it isn’t. If I remember 5 x 7 or smaller.

I have wanted to stitch this one for a long time too…I love the bouquet in the bottom center and I like the way the alphabet wraps around it. This will be great for watching sports…and letters always go quickly.

I was challenged by the colors. I didn’t have all the called-for, but looked them up on a conversion chart. The blue you see in the middle is supposed to be the border color. I didn’t like that, so I picked a very dark brown, and I think I’ll be using that instead. For now, that’s what I have pulled.

I have always and forever loved this next piece. I bought the chart WAY back when I first started stitching. I even bought the floss. It’s been packed away, and other things have jumped in before it. It’s time to pull it out now and put it in the eminent start pile. It just says Needleworker on it. I love it and would love to put it on a sampler wall to break up the size of the pieces. This would also be great for stitching while watching television.

My last one is a Freebie from La-D-Da. It’s called Free-bee Alphabet w/ Hare. HERE is the link to it. There is no color chart for these. It’s just x’s and you have to figure out what color to stitch where. Right now I thought about Trail Dust for the outer border, 3828 for the letters, and Woodsmoke for the Rabbit. I don’t know…maybe I need a softer pink for the letters. Hmm. Thoughts??

I think I’ll start Spring Awakens with the Rabbits first. I’d like to have them finished for Spring…But I might start this last one, too. I’d like to have that one finished for Spring as well. I guess we’ll see what mood strikes me. I just wanted to have these together, so I had something to grab when the mood strikes. I like to have at least one large and one small piece going at the same time. Lately, it’s been several large pieces and one small. HA!!

My goal was not to do as many smalls this year, and I haven’t…But I still like to have a few. Feel free to jump in and join me on any of these…and seriously…tell me what colors you would use on the last freebie chart…because now I started thinking about greens. Hmm. I do want it prim and pastels. I know that much. Thanks for any advice…

  1. I think a Spring green would be lovely on that piece. Also, did you put whiskers on the Maggie bunny piece you just finished?

    1. I didn’t. I sometimes skip things like that. I still have a lot of grandkid fingers around here and that would be so tempting.

  2. I love the idea of spring green too. But I’m going through a blue phase right now so a dusty colonial blue was the first thing that jumped into my mind when I saw the pattern. And that little bunny will look so cute in a soft grey-beige. Cute piece! Can’t wait to see it stitched up. So fun reading you post as just yesterday I set some time on my calendar for this Friday to put away my winter/valentine stitching and kit up a few new things for spring. So fun!

  3. I laughed—as you said pink for the letters, green popped right in my head—then you said it! So many lovely colors of green! I like your upcoming stitch starts!

  4. Easter egg colors??? Unless you want all the same color for the letters? Else, if its for someone put initials in one color and ???yours in another? So many options….

  5. I like all these projects and looking forward to seeing the finished pieces. I’m hoping you do Spring Awakens and then the Painted Threads Sampler – the bouquet is so pretty.

  6. I’m going to stitch the La-D-Da piece too. It should be a pretty fast stitch. I like a salmon color for the letters.
