You might remember we had some cat and kitten drama here at my house. If you missed it, you can read about it HERE. The kittens ended up at Kalissa’s house and she is fostering them along with Momma Cat, now known as Duchess. It almost feels like the whole family is fostering them as Kalissa is always sending pictures and updates to us in the family messenger group.
Here is Carver with one of the kittens.

There are three white and gray ones and one black one.

They are getting all the love three little boys can give them. We are constantly reminding them that the kittens have to find new homes.

This picture with Carver is way too cute…

One of the kittens got a gooey eye. Kalissa contacted the vet, and they prescribed some eye ointment and antibiotics. We’re hoping the others don’t get it, too.
You might remember I visited my sister shortly after we found the kittens. The day after I was there, I got a message from my sister’s husband.
He writes:
We had an interesting afternoon today. I came home about 2:00 this afternoon to the sound of little kittens by the back door. I looked around and there was a momma cat laying on the patio by my air conditioning unit. Four little simese kittens trying to nurse. As I looked closer the momma appeared to be dead, which she was. We called a cat rescue facility and they said to bring the kittens to them. So we did. The kittens didn’t appear to be starved but were definitely hungry. The ladies at the rescue place each grabbed one of the kittens and loved on them. I will send you pics of them.

The mom was black, but the four kittens were Sienese and had beautiful blue eyes. I have no idea how long the mom was dead but surely wasn’t there yesterday.
Oh friends…Aren’t those kittens gorgeous?? If you are in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area and need a kitten, contact me, and I’ll find out which rescue they took the kittens to.
I’m hoping this post is a reminder of how important it is to spay and neuter your cats. In a matter of two days, eight kittens and two momma cats crossed my life, and trust me, I wasn’t looking for a kitten or cat. It’s so sad that the momma of these Siamese kittens did live. Lots of people say, “It’s just a cat.”…but come on, people, we can do better.
If you can’t afford to get them fixed, please contact a rescue group. They often have funds to help people.

Thanks to all of your family for caring for the cats. I wish I lived close enough to get one of the Siamese cats. We’ve had three in the past, they were some of my favorites.
Such beautiful kittens! I’m so glad you and your family have been so kind and responsible in taking care of these dear kitties. I hope they all find good responsible homes where they are loved and properly cared for, including spay and neutering.
Not sure who is cuter …..the kittens or those three handsome boys!
Kittens are so cute! Hopefully they will all find homes in the very near future. Carver is a real cute guy, and so are Gannon and Anders!
Mother Nature knew what she was doing when it came to kittens. As much as I adore a darling puppy I can’t resist a kitten. We have ferals/strays in our yard, many who are the progeny of a cat that we inherited when we bought the house 25 years ago. Many kittens, some live, some don’t. The latest litter of 5 all died by 5 weeks old. I don’t think Mom has enough milk. I raised 1 by hand a few years ago that was abandoned by the mom. It was so much work as it was only about 2 weeks old. Found him a great home. I have 3 indoor cats…all abandoned. It happens frequently where we live, houses aren’t owner occupied anymore. Evictions are the norm and they leave cats behind. I put out food/water so we get other visitors like raccoons, opossums, and the occasional skunk. A couple years ago we had a rare blonde raccoon that I got on video-what a beauty!
The boys are growing up and changing so much!
I’m so glad Kalissa is willing to foster them, I’m sure the mama cat is happy to be safe and fed for her babies! I feel sad the other mama died.
Your grandsons are special and cute!
what handsome young men your grandsons are!!!!
I recall a time when the local “animal shelter” had special days that different veterinary offices provided spay/neuter clinics for a very nominal fee. Suddenly without advance notice these services dried up completely. Soon after that a couple of large counties combined services for all animal control issues.
With all the abandoned animals I am guessing this might be the state of things in many locations.
Thank you so much for reminding people to spay their pets.
Also please pass on to Kyla that I read “The Glass House” by Jeanette Walls and was fascinated by it. It was one of those rare books that stays on one’s mind long after it’s finished.
Oh my….Siamese kittens!! If I were in Iowa, I would be seriously tempted—-that is my favorite kind of cat.
I told hubby “good thing we’re not in Iowa—road trip?” (lol) we have two cats already…
If you are near the Cedar Rapids IA area there is a low cost cat spray and neuter called Iowa Humane Alliance. I’ve taken several cats there. It seems like a really nice place. Out of the area I’m sure there are places similar. I just put low cost pet spay and neuter in my search engine. The cat redistribution system is still going strong unfortunately. People seem to think those of us living in the country can absorb a few more cats.
