It’s Finished: Grand Illusion

It’s been almost a year in the works but it’s done!!  This is last year’s mystery quilt from Bonnie Hunter.  I think this is my fifth mystery….maybe more.

Mine is done with mostly Civil War reproductions.

Grand-Illusion-Quilt-1

My favorite thing about the quilt…the borders.  I like how they are designed taking an element of the inside blocks and reproducing them in the outside.

Grand-Illusion-Quilt-2

The original quilt called for green.  I used teal.  It also called for black and I used brown.

Grand-Illusion-Quilt-3

As I was quilting it Kalissa came to visit with me and told me how much she liked it….She likes that the blocks can’t be seen.

Of course no quilt around here is truly finished without a photo with Ruby so here it is…

I sure am glad to have this one off the UFO list.  Speaking of UFOs I’ve been having the challenge to finish a UFO before the new mystery comes out along with a linky party on Wednesday mornings here.  It looks like I’ll be on to working on UFO #2 because this one is DONE!!

Stop by on Wednesday to see which one I pulled.

Today we’re sharing our finished quilt at  Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Crazy Mom Quilts, and Link a Finish Friday

  1. Hi Jo, I was wondering what kind of batting do you like/use? I I love reading your blog everyday Thanks for being you and inviting us in to share your day.

  2. Congrats on a wonderful finish! I’m about 2/3 of the way quilting mine on my dsm. Do you like it better now that it’s done?

  3. I Love Your Grand Illusion!! What nice colors in it. I still have to make a backing for mine, so WOOHOOO!!! Way to go having yours finished before the next one starts. Wait. It’s almost time for the next one, isn’t it? Surely she’s put out paint chips by now – I need to go look. :)

  4. I am with you on the borders, but most of all I love the look in Ruby’s eyes like I know you took another picture outside without me.. I just can’t help it she is my favorite blogger dog.
