It’s a Moda Bake Shop Day and TWO Giveaways

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE GIVEAWAY HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR THIS PROJECT.  YOU CAN FIND THIS PATTERN ON MODA BAKE SHOP HERE.

If you are new to the blog, welcome.  We typically put up new blog post twice daily so there is always something new and fresh here.  We host lots of giveaways too.  Click HERE and see what’s new today…

I’m so excited to let you know that I have a quilt featured on Moda Bake Shop today.  Here it is….

BlueandGold-2

The design is just a traditional pattern set in a barn raising design but it’s made with some really great fabric, Moda’s Morris and Company designed by Barbara Brackman.  When I initially saw the fabric I wasn’t sure if I liked it.  Many of the colors blend so closely.

Then I decided to give it a try.  Oh, I really love it.  The blending is beautiful.  Stop back on the 30th when I am revealing the February Quilt Square Quilt Along block that I made with the leftover fabric.  It’s gorgeous!

This time I tried a new to me quilt batting.  Ramona, over at My Fabric Nook, asked me if I would like to give it a try.  It’s Quilter’s Dream Cotton Select.  It’s super thin yet cozy.  It worked great in my quilt machine…I only have good things to say about it.

DreamCotton

I’ve been over to Country Threads and have loved the feel of their quilts.  They have said that they use the same batting in many of their quilts.  Ramona has generously offered to give one of my readers a KING sized batting of their choice so you can try it too.  Head on over there to her site…she’s offering a 5% discount on all products along with a $2 discount code coupon (Quilt2012).  Ramona ships flat rate shipping so she’s willing to stuff your box full of batting so you can get the most bang for your shipping buck.  Shipping rates will be adjusted to meet your order.

Ramona at My Fabric Nook is also offering to send everyone who signs up for a newsletter a free sample card like this if you sign up for her newsletter.

The card is great…Ramona sent one to me.  I like to feel things before I purchase them, so this is great.  Recommendations for use of the batting is included on each card.  Hop on over, sign up for the newsletter, and Ramona will drop one of these in the mail to you.

BlueandGold-3

When I making a quilt for Moda Bake Shop, I send a fabric request to them and they send me the fabric.  Well this time around, I did a little miscalculation on the amount of fabric I would need.  I was short binding fabric…UGH!

Well the gals at Cabbage Rose Quilting came to rescue.

I discovered that I was short of fabric on December 26th.  My usual online fabric stores didn’t have the Morris and Company line so went on line hoping to find someone who did.  I found Cabbage Rose Quilting.  I’m always leery ordering from new to me places plus you know it’s totally hectic at that time of year to get anything shipped in a timely manner….NOT so with the gals at Cabbage Rose Quilting.  I received my package from them very timely and was very impressed.  I will definitely shop there again.  I dropped Karen a note to thank her and she offered to supply one of my readers a head start of goodies to make this quilt.  She is giving away a Jelly Roll of Morris and Company along with a $30 gift certificate!!  Isn’t that awesome?

They say to shop local all the time…and I do when I can but sometimes, you can find down home friendly service and good prices on the internet too.  I’ve been working with Karen and Ramona and can say….”down home and friendly” describes them both well.

If you’re looking for the pattern to make the quilt remember to head on over to Moda Bake Shop….

If you’re wondering how you can win either the King Sized Quilters Dream Cotton Batting from My Fabric Nook or the Morris and Company Jelly Roll and $30 gift certificate Cabbage Rose Quilting, keep reading.  Stop over at both sites, My Fabric Nook and Cabbage Rose Quilting,  look around.  Come back here and leave a comment telling us what type of batting you would like if you won…and what you’d purchase with the gift certificate if you won that.  While you’re there, tell the ladies thanks for the great giveaways.

I’ll pick a winner on February 1st.  The first name I draw will get the prize of their choice.  The second name drawn will receive the remaining prize.

Don’t forget to hop over to Moda Bake Shop and tell me what you think of the quilt….I love your feedback!!  Today I am hooking up with Crazy Mom Quilts, and Confessions of a Fabric Addict.

  1. Ohhh! I love new websites with lots of eye candy. I need to live until I am 200 to do all the projects I want to do! I love the sounds of the dream cotton. Cozy and soft. Soo many pretty fabrics. I am buying more lite and brite colors lately. I seem to tend towards darker colors but I am feeling the need for spring with the softer fun colors. I would choose something like that to make something spectacular! Thanks for the chance to win something fun.

  2. I love Cabbage Rose Quilting! I visited their store when I was visiting Ft. Worth in December and quickly decided it is, hands down, the best quilt shop I’ve been in. The employees were super friendly and the inventory was huge. I have also ordered on-line from this store and received my package quickly. Thank you, Cabbage Rose, for sponsoring this give-away! If I win, I will buy some of the Hello Luscious line by Basic Grey.

  3. I’d love to try the dream cotton batting. There is a lot of nice fabrics at the Cabbage Patch. I really like the Hometown fabric line.

  4. I would love to try the dream cotton batting in king size. And at Cabbage Rose , I love love love fabric plus I can always use more notions for projects I currently have going. Thank You for the great give away.

  5. Hmmm first you are doing a fabulous job on the quilt! Please say hi to Gracie and give her a hug! Then lets see its hard to say I wold love to try the wool batting as I have never tried wool batting before. I love to use cotton when I make things for folks, however with doing the kids quilts for the hospitals they prefer the poly! So hey I am open to anything I guess! At Cabbage Rose I tried to do the newsletter but it would not let me at the time, think its this computer! They have some great things and I will definetly be back to shop! I would get maybe the Cape Ann so I could do a kid quilt, the Battle Hymn fabric is screaming my name as I want to do a old time reproduction quilt, and well Beautiful blessings and the Butterscotch and Roses are well….. beautiful! So once again not a straight answer! Thanks to everyone for the great giveaways !

  6. Thanks for a very fun giveaway. I love all your moda bake shop projects. I’d be interested in Twirl (love me and my sister) and I would be interested in trying the dream green batting on some smaller projects.

  7. The barn raising project is so adorable: it is inspirational to me and I would love to get the Morris and company fabrics which are just perfect for the many blocks! And who doesn’t love a (beagle)puppy ? Thanks for your blog-it is fun to see how other people spend their time!!

  8. Jo, thanks for the opportunity to reach out to many of your customers. And to you customers, I appreciate all of the nice things you’ve posted about my website. You will love using Quilters Dream batting, whether cotton, wool, angel, green or blend. I thank you for spending hard-earned dollars at My Fabric Nook!
    Sincerely,
    Ramona

  9. I would love to win the Dream blend quilt batting. We are so lucky these days with all of the great quilting gadgets and lovely fabrics. I remember doing quilts years ago with just scissors, and no wide rulers. Nice to see how more and more gals are into quilting…..I got my oldest granddaughter hooked.

  10. Quilters dream cotton
I love the blue and cheddar together…what a great blue…definately use the gift certificate to get fabric for the quilt!

  11. I would love to try the Quilters Dream Cotton, Select Loft. The Bella Solids Charm pack fabric might get me started on a UFO, but the Sassy Fat Quarter Bundle is really tempting to me… Thanks for the giveaway!

  12. I too love Cabbage Rose. I’d have to indulge in some “A Stitch in Color” if I won. I’ve never used Quilter’s Dream. I think it would be fun to try some Quilter’s Dream Green!

  13. I have used the Quilter’s Dream batting before and love it, love it, love it! But is it the same as Quilter’s Dream Angel batting? Anyway, I am almost out of batting and really could use some! :) I would love to try the Quilter’s Dream Angel batting select. Thank you for the giveaways and always keeping us up-to-date on new products and fun projects!

  14. Congrats on your quilt fame and success!! I hope that I win, because I have big plans! The natural select loft dream cotton would be great to make a quilt for my mountain man boyfriend out of Moda, A Simpler Time line from the Cabbage Rose Shop!! Thanks for everything.

  15. I’ve had so much fun “window shopping” at these sites! For the batting I would love to try the Dream Angel batting since I make a lot of baby quilts. If I should win the prizes from Cabbage Rose I would have to choose from so many beauties — Good Fortune, Half Moon Modern, Lush, A Stitch in Color, Twirl….I hope I have to make this hard decision!

  16. Went to both sites and spent way to much time on them. I think I would choose the Dream Cotton Select as the batting choice. As far as the fabrics from Cabbage Rose it would be a hard choice but my eye says it would be Island Batiks Lagoon . Of course I would have to order more than the prize as I have never made it out of a fabric shop without more than I came in for!

  17. I love Quilter’s Dream batting -especially the request. Of the beautiful fabrics – definitely some Battle Hymn. Thanks for the opportunity.

  18. Batting: Quilters Dream Cotton Request White Super Queen
Cabbage Rose: lots of Good Fortune such as a layer cake, maybe a little Martinique yardage, or a Curio layer cake — well, I could go on and on — let’s say that I will make the decision when win :))

  19. This is so great! Thanks. Love the sites…. Quilters Dream Wool would be my coice of batting & Would love many of the fabrics, but have had my eyes on Oo La La! Hope i win… Thanks for everything! B
