Hello…It’s a Moda Bake Day!  I am so excited.  I always get lots of new visitors on Moda Bake Shop days…I feel like I should take a moment to introduce myself for those of you who are new here.  I’m Jo and I live here at the Junction.  I love to cook, sew and garden.  If you were here in person, on a tour, I’d show you the latest quilt I finished.  I’d offer you a piece of Blueberry Sour Cream Pie.  I’d give you a taste of fresh kale from my garden and tell you the latest adventures of my beagle Gracie….I love blogging and add a post almost every day, but you’re here to see the quilt…so on with the quilt.

Here’s my latest project 1934 Nine Patch.  It is made with Moda’s fabric line Circa 1934 which is scheduled to be in stores next month.  I love the line…the colors are great…very creamy and rich.

I have often heard people make comments about “not liking the solid colors in a fabric line”.  I decided to embrace the solid colors in the fabric line and design the quilt around those solid colors.  This particular fabric line has the solid red, gold, cream and green.  I didn’t use the green but if you are a “green gal”, you could easily use the green for one of the colors instead.

The quilt is made up of two different nine patch blocks, the gold/cream and the red with the printed fabric.  It’s an easy quilt to make if you are new to quilting and nine patch blocks are one of the easiest blocks there are to make.  If you are an “old hand” at quilting, this would be a quick project you.

The quilt uses a jelly roll precut for the red nine patch blocks giving each block a little dose of color.

I just used a simple quilting.  I would have loved to do straight line quilting but my machine doesn’t do that the best and I am not patient enough to do it on my regular machine.

    Very nice quilt! I love the colors! I also LOVE FQS and would get something from my wishlist which is pretty long…..Amelia, Etchings, Curio….it would be tough to decide but I probably won’t have to! Thanks for the chance though!

    I love this quilt – thank you for lovely use of 9 patch squares. I’m dreaming of Christmas fabric- flurry, jovial, countdown to Christmas and any with winter birds…. I have a 4 yr old grandaughter, a new granddaughter coming in October (both in Georgia) First I want to make an Advent calendar for Bailey and one for my classroom, a Christmas tree wall hanging for my mother (nursing home) and a Christmas blanket for the new baby. If I won I’d probably use the certificate to make the Advent calendars.

    Hum.. it’s been so long since I purchased fabric w/o a specified project in mind I’m not sure what I’d get. Either some neutrals with movement, reds to supplement my stash, or fabric for a baby quilt I recently designed and need to test.

    I would love to get some charm packs. I have a go cutter for shapes but I love being able to use the precuts to save on time and on my hands, so I can start making some charity quilts when I feel better.

    Love your new quilt! I’m a frequent reader of your blog and enjoy reading about all of your projects (plus great recipes).     I would definitely order the dots line. I have been thinking of making a circle quilt with all dot fabrics and have been stashing many sizes and colors. So far no duplicates!

    I would use the certificate towards a block of the month set that I fell in love with the other night…the Vintage Kansas City Star BOM quilt. I would dearly love to make this quilt for Mom, in memory of my father (he died in January.) I love reading your blog; it reminds me of when I was growing up in Michigan. :-)

    Jo, I love your 9 patch quilt, especially since it has “vintage” looking fabrics, including the backing! I just love anything that looks “vintage” whether it’s really vintage or new! I’d use the $25 to buy me a couple of soft thimbles (as opposed to those metal ones), or those “vintage” looking fabrics! How fun!

    I’m already a follower of FQS/Jolly Jabber and am so glad I came across your blog. Of course, after looking into Gracie’s sweet puppy dog eye, I had to set up my blogger to follow you too. :-) As for what to get from FQS, fabric, of course. I’m saving up and counting the days for Late Bloomers to come out. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking of cooler weather but I find those prints just so welcoming. Thanks for the giveaway!     I have a pattern that I have been wanting to do. It is pastel pinwheel quilt on a soft white background. All of the pinwheels are dots and placed with the light pinwheels at the top and color graduated with the darker pastels on the bottom. It is so pretty and would make an excellent baby gift for a friend who is due in December!

    I want a jelly roll of Moda’s Dogwood Trail! I want to make a quilt for my mom, and she would love that fabric. Love this design, and the solids mixed with prints. Great plan for this frabric collection, and can translate easily to other collections. Thanks.
