On Friday night my son Karl surprised me with a visit. Â He was on a road trip with a college friend that took him across the border into Wisconsin, over to one of the best burger places ever in Gunder, Iowa, over to Elkader to the bakery and then to my house.
The part of his trip that I was most interested in was the trip to Elkader. Â Any child of mine know a drive through Elkader means a trip to the bakery and a trip to the bakery means a gingerbread cookie for their momma. Â I ADORE the gingerbread boy cookies that they make at the bakery there.
Some women love jewelry…some trips….some clothes…Not me. Â I’m like my Hubby…I like food.
I like truffles from the Bed and Breakfast in Fredericksburg…burgers from the bar in town and gingerbread boys from the bakery in Elkader.
I would love to have their recipe. Â The cookies are SO-SO thin-less then 1/4″ thick and they are so chewy. Â The amount of spice is perfect too.
Does anyone have a recipe for some like this?? Â Will you share it with me? Â I would really love to make some.
So how do I love my son Karl….let me count the ways….1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 ,7 gingerbread boy cookies worth!! Â What a sweetie I had one to remind me of him for seven days….yep, you guessed right. Â I hid them from Hubby and didn’t share. Â I also had to be really careful about eating not to many carbs so I could sneak in a cookie.
Thanks Karl…and seriously readers…does anyone have a recipe???
Jo, I am real envious. I too adore gingerbread men. I don’t know what it is but they are so hard to resist. My mouth is watering just looking at them. Enjoy.
