Happy Mother’s Day!

Society has made today a holiday to celebrate moms.  Me, I look at it the other way.  I think it’s really a day that mothers should celebrate that people that make them moms.

I have five kids that have made me a mom…and today, I’d like to celebrate all of them.  They have really stepped up to the plate these last few months.  I don’t know what Kramer and I would have done without them.  I can’t begin to tell you how many times they’ve saved me and Kramer.

In a couple of the get well cards that have been sent to Kramer people have said how lucky we are that we have our kids.  One reader said that she never had kids and lives vicariously through me to ours.  Oh my…that gave my heart a little pitter pat.

There are other people in my life who have let me mother them….and I celebrate them too….my childcare kids past and present…my Neighbor Girl…my poor nieces and nephews who I mothered a little too much at times when they were young…our kiddos friends…Ruby….

My poor kids had to put up with me…the rest let me mother them anyway.   I love them all and thank them for giving me the opportunity to be a mother.  Of all the things in my life that bring me joy, children are at the top of the list…whether it’s my grandkids, nieces and nephews, or childcare kids.  I love them all so rather than celebrating mothers…I’m celebrating the people who made ALL of us mothers because whether you’ve birthed a child or not, there is someone in your life that you mother so I say…here’s to the people who let us mother them.

  1. I wonder why we have different Mother’s Day here in the uk. Ours is always 3 weeks before Easter. I read once that many years ago girls who were in service got the day off to see their mums because they’d be working all over Easter. Don’t know if it’s true.
Hope all is peaceful over there

Lovely sentiment. I don’t have children so have never celebrated Mom’s Day….but put this way, now I can! Thank you!

Amen – echoing your sentiments entirely. And it’s so amazing that you continue on with such a love for others in your life, even in the middle of such a time.
