Happy 4th!!

It’s set up to be a low-key 4th of July for me and I’m TOTALLY fine with that. It’s Independence Day and I’m celebrating my independence from my family today. HA!! I don’t have any grandkids scheduled to be here…I don’t have any company planned. It will just be me and dogs hanging out and I’m totally okay with that.

Being it’s summer I’ve had lots of grandkids here and here on extra days so a day to myself it heaven.

I’m going to sew the afternoon away in the sewing room.

I’m going to stitch the evening away on the couch.

I so appreciate all who have come before me who worked and fought that allow me to do the very things I love.

Part of me is thinking about pulling this UFO and seeing how far I can get on it… It is patriotic. It is from Lori Holt’s book Farm Girl Vintage Book One

I have no idea how much is done or how much is left to do. It might be fun to work on today being it’s patriotic.

Then in the evening, I think I’m going to pull this project… Lady Liberty by With Thy Needle and Thread. I am stitching this on a scrap of Lakeside Vintage Meadow Rue in 40 count.

It’s going to be a great day!!

You’ll have to check on Friday to see how much I got stitched when I do my cross stitch update…and check again on Monday to see what I sewed on.

PLEASE COME BACK THIS EVENING, I HAVE A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!

  1. And a Happy 4th to you also. Nothing special here. Our Dash is terrified of fireworks so we have to give him calming pills :-( No seeing the fireworks for us either. Just another day tho I think today I’ll take a break from stitching and get my featherweight out! I normally don’t get that chance!
    Love and prayers

That looks like most of my 4th of July. Unless my daughter has something planned. Have a very good day doing what you want to.

  3. Happy Independence Day everyone! I’ll be doing a bit of cooking that I love to do; pie, coleslaw, and chicken kebabs. Hope to sew one block together from a sew along n 2016–only 2 more blocks to do after that!! Don’t know what got in the way of finishing this back then, but still love the fabrics and blocks and looking forward to a finish! You all know the feeling!

  4. quiet here today too. I’ve done some cooking this morning – for just the two of us. This afternoon I plan on sewing on #7 of Mary’s UFO challenge. Finished up stitching the binding down on a wool applique piece last night – a Snuggle Quilts piece. Happy 4th! HUGS… and stitches

  5. Oh, my gosh! I forgot to put the flag out this morning! That’s first on my list and then layering the patriotic-colored New York Beauty quilt that has been waiting in the wings for more than four years. Hamburgers and easy sides for supper and “listen” to the city fireworks till the neighbors provide a mini-show later on. Enjoy your day, Jo, and Happy 4th, everyone!

  6. I hope you had a very fun and happy 4th enjoying your alone time. I never minded be alone on the 4th when I was a single mother. Of course I was usually getting ready to celebrate a daughter’s birthday. Looking forward to hearing what you did.
