A post from Kelli–
Today has been a lazy day for me. Â I woke up later than planned and have had absolutely no motivation to do anything. Â I got up and looked around the kitchen, craving something sweet and found nothing. Â And then puppy chow popped into my mind! Â It was perfect! Â I had all of the things I needed and got right to work.
Puppy chow (or muddy buddies as some call it) is the perfect pick-me-up! Â It’s quick, cheap, and I almost always have the ingredients on hand. Â Here’s the recipe if you would like to make some of your own:
1 cup peanut butter
1 1/2 sticks of butter
1 bag of chocolate chips
Place all in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for one minute, stir, and microwave for another minute until all of the ingredients are smooth and creamy. Â Pour over a box of Chex and mix until all of the cereal is covered. Â Put in a paper bag with 2 cups of powdered sugar. Â Shake the bag until all of the chocolate covered cereal is covered. Â I have found that it is important to mix it in a paper bag so that it all remains crunchy. Â If you need a big brown paper bag, you can ask for a few extras the next time that you’re at the grocery store. Â It may also be helpful to put the brown paper bag in a plastic grocery sack while shaking it in case the brown paper bag would tear.
Final step? Â ENJOY!
We call this PEOPLE chow in our house! Love it!
Jo – I do not know if you will get this but I have been following your blog for a couple of years. I have enjoyed watching you put Kelli’s DWR together. While perusing another site “Quilts by Joyce”, I found her daughters DWR post from July 6, 2013 and she elaborated a lot on what she did. I thank you for all your work that you so proudly show. Marge
