Things here haven’t been going the best for Gracie. She’s been sick.
She looks pretty good in the picture but that’s not at all how she’s really been.
For the last few weeks she has been going down hill. She won’t jump up on the couch by herself. She doesn’t run when she’s outside. She’s gained a lot of weight suddenly.
I took her to the vet about two weeks ago. Her stomach was so hard, they didn’t know what to do so they gave her a laxative thinking there was a issue.
Then Saturday morning she was awful. She was shaking, had her tail between her legs, wouldn’t sit or even move. We rushed her to the vet and she began this strange panting. I was sure she was dying. Once at the vet she was quite a bit better. The vet ended up giving her a antibiotic and pain pills.
Saturday and Sunday have been long days. She doesn’t do anything like she used to. It’s so sad. She whines because she wants to be in the chair and can’t jump in it. She won’t bark when she wants to come in from outdoors. She doesn’t have the same spark in her eye.
Sunday I took her for a walk because she seemed to want to be out. I put my shoes on and she was back to her excited self wanting to go for a walk. We barely got going and I could see that it wasn’t going to work. I ended up carrying her home….it’s so sad.
We took her to the vet this morning. It’s a different vet. They have an x-ray machine and a more advanced facility. They requested that I leave her there so they can do blood work, x-rays and the like. The vet mentioned cancer, tumor, back injury and Lyme’s Disease.
I’m back home. It’s so quiet without her. I go pick her up late this afternoon to find out the results. It’s so quiet here without her.
HUGS! I know how you feel.
I won’t go into our dog problems right now, because you need to consentrate on getting your dog home and better.
I’m so sorry. I think another look from a different vet was a good idea.
So sorry to hear about Gracie. Our dogs are members of the family and it’s hard to see them miserable. I’m sending positive thoughts your way that it’s nothing serious.
Hugs too you and Gracie. Praying the doctors find out what is wrong with her and that it is fixable.
Hang in there.
How old is Gracie? Praying for you and her.
I’m so sorry to hear Gracie isn’t feeling well. Hope she’ll be ok. Pets are such a big part of a family. Hugs to you, Gracie and the rest of the your family. I’ll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs Jo! It is so hard to watch our little loved ones suffer.
Oh, how we love our four legged friends! Praying for you and for Gracie.
I’m so sorry for you and Gracie. Maybe this new vet can help her out.
Keeping you both in my prayers.
difficult times, i know. hang in there. hopefully the vet can find out what’s wrong and get her back to her old self.
Always go with your gut feeling when it comes to pets. We know them so much better than a vet who sees them so seldomly. The second opinion was a great idea.
Jo, I am so very sorry…I know Gracie is such a big part of your life, and your number one quilt model!! Praying for her to feel better soon!!!
I love seeing Gracie on your blog and am sending prayers for the very best outcome, whatever that is. I know you won’t let her suffer needlessly. Sending hugs to you.
Oh, I hope that you get good news from the vet, and Gracie can improve. Please let us know as soon as you can!
I’m glad you took her to another vet. Hopefully they’ll be able to diagnose what is going on. How old is she? I hope she is feeling better. They sure do become part of the family, don’t they?
So glad you are getting a 2nd opinion! Hope she gets better soon!
I’m so sorry your Gracie isn’t feeling well – I hope the news from the vet is good! My kitty has health issues so I know your pain and worry – we both hope she feels better soon – she’s quite a cutie!
Wishing the best for Gracie and you. Big hugs.
Sorry to hear about Gracie
Fingers crossed she’s ok after the tests
I hope it is nothing too serious. We do love our pets and we hurt when they hurt..please keep us posted
I so sorry I know what it is like to have a four legged daughter, ours is 13 and showing signs of her age. You just want them to live forever. :-)
I am so sorry for your furbaby’s problems. It is so heartbreaking because they can’t tell you where it hurts, etc. I hope you get answers soon. HUGS!!!
Sorry to hear about Gracie and maybe the new vet can come up with whats wrong. They can not tell us what is hunting and you just do the best you can to comfort them. Thoughts are with you
Oh what a cutie! We have one that looks just like her. Hopefully she’ll be feeling better soon!
Oh no! Hugs your way!
Hopefully she will be feeling better soon…when your pet hurts, you hurt too. Lets hope the vet has some answers when you pick her up….hugs
Oh, oh. Sweet love & prayers for you & Gracie. I’m glad you took her in for a second opinion.
I am sending love.
Oh Jo! My heart goes out to you…been there, done that three times! Doesn’t get any easier! Hang in there…maybe it will end up being nothing…a simple dose of something and she will be all better!! Fingers are crossed!

Prayers for Ya’ll!
Did they check for kidney stones? I’ll keep her in my prayers.
Healing thoughts and prayers for your Gracie. I’m having similar issues with my Nathan. Tests came back a couple of months ago – lymphoma. I’m hoping that you will have a more positive test result from your vet than I did. My little guy is hanging in there so far. How old is your Gracie???? Anyway – you and Gracie are on my prayer list.
Sending healing thoughts for Gracie. Like Kathi, our sweet basset hound, Raider, has lymphoma. He got really tired and could no longer jump up on the couch. Since we started chemo, he’s got more energy than ever and is back to jumping and loving walks. Hang in there!
My prayers are wiith you.
Sending prayers your way for good news about Gracie!!! She’s so sweet, I hate to think of her sick or hurting. Please keep us posted! Hugs!!!
I’m soooo sorry, Jo. Sending prayers Gracie’s way
