Good Times at Target

A guest post from Kayla
Recently my mom shared an opportunity to review Target’s new Cartwheel app. I’ve tried the coupon thing before and was a bit hesitant. But I’ve always had a great time shopping at Target and agreed to give it a look.  Over my lunch break I went online to learn more about the app. I found out that I could quickly log in using my Facebook information. In no time I was finding great offers to add to my shopping list.
That evening it was very slow at my part-time bartending job so I poked around on my phone. Cartwheel took just a minute to download. My offers from earlier in the day were immediately available on my smartphone app so I could browse them and add more.
I used to shop at GAP because I thought their high prices were justified with high quality. Recently, though, I have discovered Mossimo jeans.  They have a dependable fit and quality at more than half the price of the GAP jeans I used to wear. Imagine my surprise when I found a Cartwheel offer saving even more!  I’ve been looking for a pair if high-waist skinny jeans. I also added an offer for my favorite Mossimo long-and-lean tank tops. And, because a girl can never have too many accessories, I added offers for belts and scarves.

I didn’t have much time to shop when I finally got to try out my Cartwheel app. Luckily it’s so easy to use. I found the high waist skinny jeans I was looking for, chose a lace-print tank top, and couldn’t resist a black and chartreuse scarf. At the checkout I mentioned that I had Cartwheel. The bar code on my cell phone was scanned and I saved $8.40 instantly. That was enough to buy another tank top!

I’ve splurged on plenty of new clothes and accessories for awhile, but the Cartwheel app can help me save on necessities as well. This week I’ve added offers for tampons and cotton swabs.
Another feature that I like about the Cartwheel app is that I can share my deals with my friends and see what they have found. I have a very thrifty friend who is great at using coupons.I can keep an eye on what she’s adding to know where the very best deals are. Cartwheel is a great app for couponers because you can use manufacturer’s coupons, plus your Cartwheel discount, plus discounts from your Target card.

It’s worth noting that I didn’t publicize the addition of cotton swabs and tampons to my list. It is easy to modify which of your offers are shared with friends and which are nobody’s business. I had to giggle when I noticed there is an “add privately” button to baby supplies as well. Unfortunately I have no baby offers to try to hide yet.

  1. I love shopping at Target for my daughters’ college supplies, dorm accessories, holiday decorations, and kitchen items! I find it to be a good value for on trend decor. Thanks for the review of the Cartwheel App. I plan to give it a try this week!

  2. I would stock up on some grocery items and pet care stuff, but I’m always looking at storage and organization stuff at Target, plus books. Sounds like a great app! Thanks.

  3. I would use it for groceries and personal-care items. Love the Archer Farms hazelnut coffee. The fruit and other produce at our SuperTarget is so fresh. I’ve used Cartwheel a couple of times and found it really easy to use. It’s nice to just have them scan my phone instead of clipping or printing coupons. Gives me more time for quilting. :)

  4. I would use it for for my home, furniture, electronics! Thank you for the app, I am going to try it out, Target is on my way to work so very convenient! :)

  5. Wow my favorite place to shop! Now with more savings I will be there more often. I would probably use it for household items and groceries. I may even try some of their furniture. That would be a treat. They have great things! Thanks for the chance to win!

  6. If I won a $1000 gift card, I’d buy shoes for the whole family. I know it isn’t anything exciting but shoes do cost a lot and with growing boys to clothe, it would help. Thank you!

  7. I would love to get some new sheets and towels and items for our bathroom we are updating.
I would get some new clothes for my husband and I and some new dog and cat toys and treats and beds for
our dog and cat and some bird items for our bird.
I would also get some groceries.

  8. I would do all of the above! Starting with cute new outfits for the girls and then off to the grocery section for more savings! :)

  9. I would love to splurge on new clothes after some recent weight loss, but would most likely stock up on toiletries, cleaning products and shelf stable medicines.

  10. I want to re do my living room so I would buy paint, furniture, curtains – anything for a new look. And maybe something nice for me.

  11. My food processer wore out after 40 years. I could not find one that had metal blades
and looked like it would last a long time. Finally someone suggested I look at Target.
Sure enough they had one (Hamilton Beach same as my old one) and it works great.
I would probably buy groceries and kitchen gagdets if I won the sweepstakes.

  12. I would try to stretch my dollar in the grocery and household supplies departments, especially the paper products and tea and coffee items.

  13. I would use $1,000 in the furniture department. I just moved in to a
townhouse, and could use some new ‘stuff’.
