Some days my email box can be lots of fun…sometimes it’s just full of spam. Recently I had a good day finding a note and pictures from Virginia. She writes, “I just wanted to let you know I made the your quilt featured in the Quiltmaker magazine. It came at the perfect time. I had purchased the fabric about 10 years ago when I was working more than full-time and never did get a chance to make use the fabric. I was a new quilter at the time and didn’t realize that all the red toned fabrics were about the same color range. I had the fabric on my cutting table and was trying to determine what to do when the magazine came. I always like stars and all I had to do was add the gold fabric from my limited stash. As you can see from the attached pics I didn’t add the borders as I didn’t have enough backing fabric for that size. It fits perfectly on our queen sized bed.”
I quickly opened the attached photos to find this…
Isn’t it great?? I love the red version.
In case you forgot, we did ours in blue. It looks could be a Christmas quilt with the red and gold…or it could be for Iowa State fan…or for any other reason.
If you are looking for the pattern, you can find it in Quiltmaker’s July/August 2013 issue.
Thanks so much for sharing your version with Virginia. It is beautiful. When I designed it Kelli never thought anyone would ever sew it with all those half square triangles…well you proved her wrong…THANKS!!
What a beautiful quilt. I really like the borders :)
How fun to see both colorways!! What a great pattern.
That is a fabulous quilt. Beautiful!
I just love that quilt!
