Oh my word. My plants are doing so well this year. I love going out and looking at them. I think part of it is that Rick loves plants too…another part, my plants have been in my garden long enough to look more mature and lush.
My hydrangeas at the front of the house are awesome. These are about 8 years old and finally look like well-established plants.

I plant my own hanging baskets so they are always a little behind until about mid July.

I mixed light pink and darker pink Proven Winner Supertunias together in these baskets. I highly recommend the Supertunias over wave petunias. These dead head themselves and are prolific.
Rick got me some super dark petunias for Mother’s Day. I mixed them in with some of my other flowers.

At first I wasn’t sure I liked them but I do…The centers of the light pink flowers are a deep purple, and they look great together.

My clematis is going crazy. It’s just packed with blooms.

All along the garage door walk way it looks good.

The Astilbe is blooming.

Speaking of plants coming to maturity, my purple coneflower is going to be amazing in a couple of weeks. It is loaded with buds.

I have a few other hydrangeas that will be looking great before long. This one has lavender blooms. You can see a few hiding. More and ready to go.

This one is wonderful. I don’t know the name of it but is blooms in a cream color and the flowers eventually turn dark pink by the end of the season. I just love it. I spent quite a big of money for it several years ago. The plant really took a beating. This is the first year it looks so promising.

I bought two mums a couple of years ago at the end-of-the-year clearance sale. They are triple the size they were.

They are hardy. I’ll be clipping blossoms off before long. I typically pluck them until the end of July. That way, they will look awesome in the Fall.
I think I’m appreciating the flowers more this year because last year, I couldn’t get out much. I didn’t water and take care of them as I should have, but I was laid up. I couldn’t help it…this year they are extra special to me.
I’ll give you another update as more things grow. Oh, I love flowers.

Jo are deer not a problem in your area. I buy deer snd rabbit resistant plants sprinkle critters powder and yet they still eat my flowers
I had a little trouble early on when the plants were tiny but all is well now.
You really have a green thumb! Your flowers and plants are wonderful!
Your yard is a showplace! It looks like something from a magazine or catalog . Beautiful!
Thank you!!
I love flowers too. Your yard is beautiful. You’re so lucky you have someone to help you with it.
Every year I admire how beautiful your house looks surrounded with all those gorgeous flowers. Now it would be fun to see the before picture of your house and compare it with how far you have come. You always create beautiful planters!
Beautiful garden indeed! This year, a hydrangea on the edge of our property was in full bloom! Last year, no blooms probably because I pruned it too late. But I digress…well, some of those blooms didn’t last too long :( as a motorcyclist skidded on some sand and flew directly through the middle of the blooms! You can’t make this stuff up!
Crazy!! I hope it blooms beautifully next year!!
You both worked so hard and your beautiful gardens show it.
Thank for sharing.
How do you pluck your mums?
Yours look so round. Your garden looks great!
Jo your flowers are looking amazing, could you tell me more about how you pluck your mums? I have two mums that came back and they are flowering now, however, the flowers are very, very small. Should I be plucking each flower as it comes out?
Thank you. Also I have a white violet that needs trimming. Would you want a leaf. One color is white and the other one is a light pink /purple. If you would like a cliping let me know. Vg
Oh, i would love a white violet! I have a variety of different purple ones and some pink ones and even a red one. I’ve never seen a white one except in pictures.

” Oh, I love flowers.” ME TOO!!!
What a colorful and welcoming yard, so many colors and everything is looking healthy. I bought some supertunias this year for the first time and I love how they take of themselves! A winner for sure.
