If you’ve been a blog reader for long you know I have a thing for dolls. Â I love them! Â I spend much of my childhood playing with dolls and if time allowed, and not that I’m providing childcare it sometime does, I’d play with them more often.
Years ago when Barbie faded a bit and Bratz dolls became the thing I was horrified. Â Bratz dolls were ugly, un-natural, gaudy, and inappropriately sexy. Â Kalissa had wanted them and I said NO!!
Well fast forward a to a couple days ago. Â I saw this video.
I LOVED THE DOLLS!!
Can you believe she took and changed the dolls from this to this?!??! Â (Photos from Tree Change Dolls)
I LOVE the new looks. Â They look so much more real. Â Well I, of course, would like some for childcare.
I am so excited that the creator has done some videos that show how to create the feet and how to repaint the faces. Â Well that inspired me to see if I could hunt down some Bratz dolls…and I did.
The dolls are all in pretty good shape. Â I can’t wait to get started. Â I’m going to town today and picking up supplies to change them is on my to-do list. Â We have a family friend that is a wonderful artist so I’m hoping with her help and the help of my girls to get at these some time soon changing them to dolls I’ll be happy to have here!
Don’t you think it’s time for some “real” looking dolls?? Â I sure do!!
Amen, Sister! Unfortunately, some middle school girls really do look like that. And it isn’t easy to find unsexy, well-made clothes for that age group.
I saw these a while back. I so wish the toy companies would create “normal” looking dolls like these. I can’t wait to see how yours turn out.
What a great thing, looking forward to se your “new” dolls!
Dawn is honing her face painting skills here…she has “rescued” 3 Bratz dolls this week!
What a great story – thanks for sharing the links – hope to see your new versions soon :)
What a transformation! They look so much more appealing after she’s remade them. Do show us pics of your dolls when you get them repainted. I hope your child care kids – and you – get to enjoy playing with them.
I saw this video recently too and was so inspired and impressed! I am looking forward to seeing your dolls transform (and then I might have a go too!).
Love this! Can’t wait to see how you transform your dolls. :o)
I too saw the movie that the lady did to turn those dolls from ugly to beautiful! Good luck making more beautiful dolls!
