I just love Friday Finish days…it’s a little bit a validation that “hey, I really did accomplish something this week”. Â This week it was a little more of an accomplishment for Kelli as this is Kelli’s quilt.
Do you recognize it as Bonnie Hunter’s Scrappy Trips? Â You can find the free pattern here. Â A year ago or so the pattern was hot in blog land only most people were doing theirs in bright colors. Â Kelli jumped on the band wagon and made one only breaking trend and going with Civil War reproduction fabrics.
It has languished as just a quilt top for some time until I finally pushed Kelli to get some of her quilt tops finished. Â That means she brings them to my house and I find backs for them and quilt them…I know, she’s spoiled.
If you are thinking of making one similar, note that there is little blue and only a few light prints. Â Most are reds, browns, rusts, pinks, golds and greens. Â It’s so pretty in person.
I used an awesome variegated thread that Ila sent to us on the top. Â It has the exact same colors minus the pink and green.
The backing thread was just brown. Â For the quilting I used a swirl with baptist fans design. Â It was fun to do.
Today, we are hooking up with……Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Link a Finish Friday, Freedom Fridays, and Crazy Mom Quilts.
Did you see the post about our daughter Kalissa and indecision about nursing school?

I love your baptist fan swirl! Is that a panto or do you freehand it? So cute and very appropriate for Kelli’s quilt…a little traditional mixed with a fun twist!
I’ve made a Srappy Trip size 108×120 inches and I’ve been wondering how to quilt it, this has made up my mind up to take it to our local long armer and I can request something similar to yours. Big thanks for the inspiration.
This is just beautiful. I hope Kelli is proud of herself…great job.
This looks great! And I love the quilting!
Wow – you sure fancied it up with good quilting. Lot of times we forget that “humble” quilts can be stunning with stunning quilting! Thanks for great eye candy. I’ve made 8-10 of this pattern, gave all except one, and after seeing yours, I realize mine needs MORE quilting!
Looks fantastic! What a wonderful effort all round! Have a Merry Christmas!
