This is a long term UFO for me. I am playing the UFO game with the gals from Country Threads. This month we are supposed to be working on quilt #1 of our list. I did a little swap and worked on this one instead. It’s actually my #3 UFO. My brother and his wife are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary at the end of the month and I thought this quilt would make a perfect gift.
I tried and tried to get good photos to show off the colors but they just aren’t quite right. I have to say in person, the color combo looks really nice. I used a funky feathers free motion design. I remember being so terrified to try this design…now, it’s easy. I used a charcoal thread on top and the variegated thread from Ila on the back. (Thanks Ila!!)
The pattern was a block of the month from some time ago. There was an online place called Two Studios…then I think it got changed to Three Studios. I couldn’t find a link. Sorry.
This quilt ended up as UFO because of my inability to make decisions. Each month we got a block pattern. Then all of sudden at month nine they sent out three more blocks and about six different finishing options. It was too much too fast for me. Then I let it sit….you know what happens once you leave a UFO sit too long, right?? You have to find a matching fabric as they no long have the original fabric you were using. Yep, that’s what happened. No fabric to match giving me even more decisions to make.
I have to say, I do love the setting blocks.
Hopefully they’ll like their quilt….Ruby sure did.
Today, we are hooking up with……Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Link a Finish Friday, Freedom Fridays, Find a Friend Friday and Crazy Mom Quilts.
We also have a quilt book giveaway going on here.
Lovely simple lovely
That is a gorgeous quilt, the colors are so fun! and Ruby makes a good model…
I really like that you used the dark paisley as your background/setting fabric. Makes the other colours really shine. Great finish :)
I hate it when UFO sits for too long and they stop making the fabric. Yours turned out very lovely. I’m sure your brother and his wife will be very happy to receive it.
I love those colors. Beautiful quilt!
I did that BOM too and only got as far as three or four when I didn’t care for one of the blocks…another thing for the long list once these kids get back to school.
Yours turned out great, it will be a nice gift.
I love the way the dark background shows off the colors. I never think to do dark backgrounds on quilts and I dont’ know why. I always love it when other people do it!
Turned out just beautiful! Great job!
That is a beautiful quilt – so much better finished than sitting in a UFO stack! Whoop whoop for a great finish!!
