Well I can check one more UFO off the LONG list. I finished up Odds and Ends.
This quilt has been on my list for not one but TWO years…It would have been on there three years but that first year I didn’t make a UFO list.
Kelli started me making this. When the magazine came out, she said-let’s both make one and me wanting to encourage her to sew, said sure. That was back in June of 2010 as the pattern was in American Patchwork and Quilting’s June 2010 issue. 3 1/2 years later…it’s finally done!! She finished hers in May of last year (here’s a picture of hers) me…I didn’t until this month.
It’s hard to take pictures of a big quilt in rooms that aren’t conducive to large quilts so I tried to take the pictures on our bed….they aren’t the best, but you’re getting the idea of how it looks.
I quilted it with a great red to gold variegated thread that Ila sent me. I loved the look. I also quilted it with baptist fans. Honestly, if you’re even in doubt how to quilt a reproduction fabric quilt, you’ll never go wrong with baptist fans.
This is one of the quilts that Kelli and I can lay on the bed forever talking about saying…oh I had that fabric in red…I used that fabric in a different quilt I made and on and on and on.
I did make mine in 8 x 9 layout. I think the magazine only showed a 5 x 6 but I don’t remember for sure.
I did run into a problem when I was making this. It’s a problem that I think some of you might share. Stop back later today and I’ll share what I learned.
