Well  I can check one more UFO off the LONG list.  I finished up Odds and Ends.
This quilt has been on my list for not one but TWO years…It would have been on there three years but that first year I didn’t make a UFO list.
Kelli started me making this.  When the magazine came out, she said-let’s both make one and me wanting to encourage her to sew, said sure.  That was back in June of 2010 as the pattern was in American Patchwork and Quilting’s June 2010 issue.  3 1/2 years later…it’s finally done!!  She finished hers in May of last year (here’s a picture of hers) me…I didn’t until this month.
It’s hard to take pictures of a big quilt in rooms that aren’t conducive to large quilts so I tried to take the pictures on our bed….they aren’t the best, but you’re getting the idea of how it looks.
I quilted it with a great red to gold variegated thread that Ila sent me. Â I loved the look. Â I also quilted it with baptist fans. Â Honestly, if you’re even in doubt how to quilt a reproduction fabric quilt, you’ll never go wrong with baptist fans.
This is one of the quilts that Kelli and I can lay on the bed forever talking about saying…oh I had that fabric in red…I used that fabric in a different quilt I made and on and on and on.
I did make mine in 8 x 9 layout. Â I think the magazine only showed a 5 x 6 but I don’t remember for sure.
I did run into a problem when I was making this. Â It’s a problem that I think some of you might share. Â Stop back later today and I’ll share what I learned.

i love this quilt too! I had the issue pulled when you first showed the quilt, but now it’s back somewhere in the stacks again. I’m going to hunt it up once more and keep it out this time.
I love this quilt! I’m partial to anything with a churn dash block. Did you freehand your baptist fans or use a panto?
Beautiful quilt, Jo! Love it!
Love the quilt and the quilting….its so good I can’t tell if it is hand or machine quilted from the pictures. I just love scrappy too!
Happy Sewing
i re-found the magazine issue in my pile and pulled it out again. there’s several quilts in that issue that i like. i have determined that i’ll make my quilt using two fabric collections from Fig Tree quilts that are in my stash.
Also i was wondering if it might be easier to use the Easy Angle and companion Angle rulers when cuting the HST’s and star points/centers for this quilt??
I’ll hold off on the cutting until i hear about your problems Jo, and the fix that you’ve devised.
Beautiful quilt! Very traditional. I like that you used a baptist fan/traditional look of machine quilting on it.
Love it! I love anything with stars.
I really like this one, Jo. I am not much of a scrappy liker, but this one is gorgeous. Congrats!
visiting from crazy mum quilts. I am not surprised that this took three years. It is huge!!! What a great finish
