Friday Finish: Kelli’s Talkin’ Turkey

This week I finished up Kelli’s Talkin’ Turkey quilt.

TalkingTurkey-1

It’s is so pretty.  The pictures don’t do it justice.   She finished the top over a year ago.  Then early in 2014 I told her if she brought some of her quilt tops to me I’d finish them up.  Well then we had the book deal and the house and I just finally got it done.  She wasn’t in a hurry so that was good.

TalkingTurkey-2

I used a red thread on the top and did a Baptist Fan design.  It’s my favorite design.

TalkingTurkey-3

I have one of my own that’s started.  Yes…we started ours at the the same time and again, I’m the last to finish.  I only have the string pieced parts together so it’s going to be some time before I get my finished.

If you are wondering you can find this pattern in Bonnie Hunter’s String Fling book….

…and what quilt is complete without a doggie stamp of approval.  Betsy is visiting today so both dogs, my Ruby and Kalissa’s Betsy are showing off the quilt.

TalkingTurkey-4

I had a little trouble with the “green eye” on the dogs and was trying to fix it…no luck.  But I did play around with the picture and did this…

Ruby-Betsy-PencilSketch-1-1
Isn’t that kind of cool??

Anyway…I love the quilt…I love the dogs and I’m sure at some point in time you’ll see a picture of the dogs and MY quilt of the same pattern.  I don’t expect to finish my soon..but I did pull it out and see how far I had to go on mine.

We’ll be hooking up with all these fun places ..…Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Link a Finish Friday, Freedom Fridays, and Crazy Mom Quilts.

  1. Oh, Jo, you did a fabulous job on that Talking Turkey! And I spied your drop-dead gorgeous Civil War Easy Street on the Instagram message, too. Wow! You are so productive!

  2. The Baptist Fans you quilted look perfect on Kelli’s Talking Turkey quilt – it is all so beautiful and just what I love! Aside from loving scrappy and loving red, that border is especially amazing. (Love your pup approval rating system. too… hee hee)

  3. Love the quilt and The dogs just set it of. That Ruby have the sweetest look on her face all the time, what a baby doll she is.
    I so enjoy your blog.

  4. Kelli did an exquisite job in piecing her quilt – it is very beautiful. Your pups (love Ruby’s gorgeous eyes) are so sweet, I sure understand how attached you are to them. We have 4 Shih Tzu, and they’re our little babies!!
