Friday Finish: Blue Ridge Beauty

Here it is all finished-my LONG term UFO, Blue Ridge Beauty.  This is the first Bonnie Hunter quilt I ever started.

BLueRidgeBeaty-1

You can find it in Adventures with Leaders & Enders: Make More Quilts in Less Time! by Bonnie Hunter.  Kelli already made this quilt and gifted it as a wedding present.  You can see her version here.  Can you believe that at one point I complete lost the blocks.  I knew I had made them..but ugh.  I couldn’t find them.  Finally after looking and looking and completely giving up, I did find them.  They were  under another project.

The quilting was quick…just an over all floral stipple.  It’s easy and quick for me to do this design and it’s nice on quilts that I want  the pattern to be the focal point.

I have made so many Bonnie Hunter quilts and I am NEVER disappointed in them.  You can see a whole listing of all I’ve made of her patterns here.   She will be hosting a free online mystery soon that I really don’t want to miss.

Hubby loves this one…I love this one…It’s staying at my house.  I knew that all along and I think that’s why I didn’t finish it sooner.  Oh why oh why do we quilters hold off and not finish our own projects.

Today, we are hooking up with……Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Link a Finish Friday, Freedom Fridays, and Crazy Mom Quilts.  Oh and if you missed the “Try it on Tuesday” giveaway, you can find it here.

  1. I’ve made a start on a blue quilt with a fairly easy pattern. Now that I’ve seen Blue Ridge Beauty I wonder if there’s enough time left to make that one instead. It is stunning, and fits perfectly in my color comfort zone. Gonna think long & hard on that decision. So glad you shared the finished quilt.

  2. Did you use a panto or free hand it? What color thread did you use. I love it!!! Can’t wait to start Bonnie’s new mystery. I did the one for last year but it is not quilted yet.

A great inspiration for me to get started on one for our house. A beautiful, glad to hear it’s a keeper! I just added an Intelliquilter to my long arm. Going to need sewing projects to do while the computer is doing my “work” – haha

  4. Love your quilt! It’s one of my favorites. Hope I can get around to making one for myself one day too. Just bought my fabric this week for Bonnie’s next mystery, so I’ll be sewing along with you.

  5. Yep, Blue Ridge Beauty is on my list of “Oh, I really want to start that one, right now, but need to conquer some of the 12 Bonnie UFOs I already have! ” HEE! HEE! Still piecing away on Orca Bay! Easy Street parts are all done, waiting to be sewn into blocks. . .Lazy Sunday is sorta started. . .Spending the Fall Back NIGHT with Fair and Square. . .my tradition is to see the clock strike 2 and turn it back to 1. :) I sew the night away!

  6. Oh, Jo, you did great on this! I especially love your choices of “Bonnie-busy neutrals” all throughout the quilt, it adds such zest to the design. Good job!
