This week one of the tasks that I had was to complete two quilts that we will be featured in an upcoming issue of Quiltmaker. Â The project is really fun as it makes not one, but two quilts.
There were a few left overs once I had the two quilt tops done so I played with the strips and before long I had this.
I absolutely love it.
The fabric is Moda’s line Chantilly. Â You should be able to find it in stores now as I think it came out early this year. Â There is a great mix of greens, aquas and reds.
This was so fun to make as I had no purpose and no deadline in mind. Â I just sewed them went to the design floor…sewed a bit more and back to the design floor. Â It was like that for a bit. Â Then I didn’t like a couple block so I ripped and sewed some more. Â Then the idea to off center it hit. Â That made more ripping and reorganizing but totally worth it!
So now I am awaiting a baby to give this to. Â I don’t have anyone in mind. Â In fact, I don’t know anyone who is pregnant. Â In the back of my mind I have an idea though. Â Our daughter Kalissa is taking an OB round for her nurses training. Â She has to observe a pregnant mother, going with her to a few appointments then be there for the delivery. Â If the baby is a girl, I just might pass this quilt along to that baby. Â We’ll see. Â Kalissa has to find someone yet…Know of anyone in the NE Iowa area??
My tulips are just getting done with their blooming. Â Everything that happens around here is a little bittersweet. Â They are the last tulips I’ll have here at this house.
I’m off to go to the post office. Â I need to get the two quilts in the mail and on their way to Quiltmaker.
Today, we are hooking up with……Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Link a Finish Friday, Freedom Fridays, Michelle’s Romantic Tangle and Crazy Mom Quilts.
Hi Jo have just seen the oink a doodle moo quilts and a friend is having a baby and their theme is farm animals just wanting to know if you used a charm pack for the actual animal blocks
That sweet quilt would be perfect for any baby, boy or girl. Love the off-center arrangement.
Yes, I agree that it could go to a boy or girl! Love projects that just start out and you see where they go!
Looks great
I love the off center look! Some baby is going to be really lucky to receive it.
I know so many women/couples that are pregnant and due in Oct! I have 2 partial scrappy quilts that I will probably finish, and trying to think of some thing to make for a special person I know. I’ve got to get on it. Oct will be here b4 I know it. So you could send it to me…. LOL
I’d just like to tell you I really love your blog. I wish I was as dedicated to getting to my sewing has you are AND able to get to all the house project you work on.
You and your family are an inspiration to me.
