The dust cleared from the garage sale and our mini retreat.
We were gradually listing a few items on Marketplace. Everything was happening slowly as both Rick and I were catching up on sleep and the house.
Two days after the retreat, I was sitting out chatting with Rick while he was drinking his coffee. We were in the garage at our little Craftsman high-top table. I looked over towards the workbench and saw this…

It was my cross-stitch lamp with the magnifier. Nell had used it when she was here retreat stitching.
I rarely use it, so I hadn’t missed it yet. I said something to Rick about the lamp. He was quickly apologetic, saying he would put it back today. I laughed. I wasn’t upset about it. It was just weird to see him using it…and for that matter…what was he using it for.
He smiled and said, “It’s great for tying knots in the fishing line.” HA!! I wasn’t mad at all about him using it. In fact, I was happy it was getting used. I was only surprised by it all.
All that to say, if you’re looking for a reason to justify the purchase of a magnifying lamp for your cross stitch, pass it off as a multipurpose lamp.
He can use it for tying fish line…you can use it for cross stitching. HA!! THIS is the one I have.
Rick, using the lamp gave me a good laugh!! Silly guy. Of course I’d be happy if the lamp was used for fishing too!!
My husband uses mine also at times! These do come in handy. I will say once you said the magnifying lamp I saw it was in front of a window. You might want to make a quick cover for it so it doesn’t accidentally catch sunlight rays coming in the window. Could cause a fire.
Hubby used my lamps for years for various projects so I bought him his own. He also got the magnifying headlamp I didn’t like but he did. And he has borrowed the occasional skein of floss or spool of thread for lines on model boats.
It seems like a good lamp for many things. It is amazing what the guys decide they like using of our crafting things. I have seen my hubby using my rotary blades for various cutting projects.
