I love days when I am finishing up projects. It just makes me happy.
Here is my Granny Squares Baby Quilt. You were all so good to help me decided about borders… Here is what I ended up with.
I went with the red fabric. It doesn’t really match the center blocks but somehow it all comes together and looks okay.
If you are looking for the Granny Square block pattern, you can find it here. Please note that my blocks were not made with 2.5″ squares as the pattern calls for. I make mine with 2″ squares. I trimmed my blocks down to 7″ square. I made 25 blocks and put them in a 5 x 5 setting with no sashing. I am cutting 1.5″ strips for the inner border and outer will be 3″…It’s real close to 40″ square when it is finished…Perfect for a baby.
Here’s the back. Mish-mash scraps….
This quilt is for my great niece Jacey. It wasn’t that long ago then I made a quilt for her big brother Micah. I don’t get to see them often and am always amazed to see their growing family.
Many of the scraps from this quilt were sent to me by readers. Just little two inch scraps and soon I had a quilt….THANKS to all of you…
Another baby, a great nephew, is expected next month…looks like I’ll be making another baby quilt.
These blocks were lots of fun. Kelli cut out and made one of the blocks using Civil War prints….oh, temptation is at my door (say no Jo, say NO!…no more new projects) Speaking of new projects I am going to start one on June 1st…I am calling it my bucket list challenge project. I’ll tell you more about that next week. Hopefully you’ll all join in and sew along on a bucket list quilt of your choice.
Before you go, there are THREE giveaways going on right now…a $40 gift certificate from Cabbage Rose Quilting and Fabrics, one for Word Play Quilts and one for Pretty Patchwork Quilts. Good luck! I’ll pick all the winners next Tuesday.
Love it! I need to make one of these!
Such a cheerful little quilt. I shouldn’t start a new project but I can’t resist.
That red border does pull everything together. Way to go, Jo!
Such a cute little quilt. I’m tempted, VERY tempted. But I’d better work on some of the stuff I already have started.
Very lucky niece! Good luck with that restraint. Not doing so well myself. (my wallet is screaming in pain :-))
Oh…I love your version of the Granny Squares baby quilt! I need to make this one too. I have alot of 30’s repro fabrics….but then you mentioned it being made up in civil war fabrics….oh crap….I love that even more! How long do we get to live for??!!
