Find us on the News Stand: Quiltmaker

Check out the latest edition of Quiltmaker!

I love the cover quilt.  It’s a Bonnie Hunter quilt and I’ll admit it, I pulled some fabric to make it already….it will likely be a UFO in the works.

As amazing as that is, you’ll also want to check out our quilt….Strawberry Sundae.  We made this quilt with the intention that it should have been in our book, Country Girl Modern-but it was the first quilt that was cut when we found out that we didn’t have room.  We love the quilt and fought for it to be included in the book but it didn’t have the more modern look our publisher was going for.  That didn’t make Kelli or I like it any less.  Besides we knew the quilt was a good design and that one of the magazines would quickly pick it up.

Here is our picture of the quilt.  We were planning on naming the quilt Tops and Bottoms.  There’s a kids book we love that is called Tops and Bottoms.  With the strip at the top and bottom of the quilt we thought that it was a fun name…but Quiltmaker named it Strawberry Sundae which is a good name too.

Anyway…we love the quilt and hope you do too.  It’s a wonder of scrappy goodness.  We did use a Moda Fabric Line when we made this…Honey Sweet by Fig Tree.  It’s an older line now so might be hard to find but I am sure any Fig Tree fabric line will give you similar results.

I have a fun story to tell about this quilt but I’ll save that for an upcoming post when the quilt returns to our house.  In the meantime, I don’t think this is an issue you’ll want to miss.

  1. I’m glad this quilt is in Quiltmaker and wasn’t completely lost to us! I LOVE it!! I love Bonnie’s quilt too but Strawberry Sundae is really calling my name so Strawberry Sundae will get done first :o)

  2. I LOVE you quilt! I’m gladit’ in the magazine too! Specailly since I need to make a PINK quilt for my grand DD… I think it should be Strawberry Sundae too

  3. I, too, love this quilt! I appreciate Bonnie’s quilts and her commitment to using true scraps, but I guess I’m a little too traditional for her look most of the time. I received a QM subscription for Christmas and was so glad to see this pattern in it when I got my magazine yesterday.
