Featherweights for Sale

UPDATE:  THIS IS THE ADDRESS WHERE THE SALE WILL BE HAPPENING:
Where: Seton Catholic School – 7597 Burds Rd, Peosta, IA (10 minutes west of Dubuque – from hwy 20, turn North on Cox Springs Rd, keep going straight and the school will be on your left at the top of the hill)

When I went to Lucy and Scotty’s baptism I met Lora’s cousins.  Connie was with me that day and we were staying at the baptism and then going with Kayla down to the Featherweight Maintenance class hosted by Nova Montgomery.  While talking to the cousins they asked us a bit about Featherweight sewing machines.  Their mom had passed away and she had been a collector of Featherweight sewing machines and fabric.  They had asked what the machines were worth and if I had ideas on selling them.  I really didn’t.  I did tell them to contact me when they were ready to sell them and possibly I might be interested.

Well I decided that collecting machines is not for me….at least not anymore than I currently have so I offered to tell all of you about the machines.  Here is the the message that they sent.

I finally have everything (somewhat) organized to have a sale for mom’s machines and sewing kits and patterns.  We’re having it next Saturday (June 2nd) from 9-3 in Dubuque, Iowa.  We’re donating most of her cut fabric  to the Reservation and will be driving that out to them 2 days after the sale.  Whatever kits and patterns that don’t sell will probably be donated.

We have 5 featherweights to sell.  I’ve attached their photos here.  They all come with cases, original manuals, and at least 2 or more feet.  We’re asking $300 each for the featherweights.

AH658182 – 1948

AE219224 – 1936

AJ896538 – 1950

AF384605 – 1939 (has metal handle, Mom purchased that way)

If you could spread the word among your friends and colleagues I would be immensely grateful!

These are the pictures of the machines she sent….I have no idea what year what machine is…I have no idea the condition of the machines.  I do know that it would be a fun road trip to go to the garage sale.  Here are pictures of more of the machines…..

The gals had said that their mother loved going on shop hops and buying fabric and kits.  They said that there were totes and totes and totes of fabric…something like 40-50 totes of quilting things.  She bought batiks….

I’ve not seen any of it but that leads me to believe that most things are quilt shop quality items.  Hmm…interesting trip I’m sure.

If anyone goes, please report back and let me know if it was a fun time!!  I’m bummed I’ll be missing it.  I’ll be with Kalissa at the sale at White Barns in Hawkeye Iowa.  You could road trip our way and see us too!!  Now that sounds like a fun girl day!!

PLEASE NOTE:  I REALIZE I HAVEN’T INCLUDED AN ADDRESS FOR THIS SALE.  I HAVE TRIED TO REACH THE SELLERS AND SO FAR NO ONE HAS GOTTEN BACK TO ME.  IF/WHEN THEY DO, I WILL UPDATE THIS BLOG POST HERE.  I DO HAVE AN EMAIL ADDRESS.  IT IS HOW I’VE BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT THEM.  I DON’T KNOW MUCH MORE THAN THAT.  IF YOU WANT THE EMAIL ADDRESS CONTACT ME AND I WILL PASS IT ON.  My email is rogjok@iowatelecom.net.

  1. Marie (their Mom) was a great customer at our quilt shop and I quilted many of her tops. She loved her Featherweights. The sale is NOT in Dubuque – will get it tomorrow and post
