Family Times

I told you we had a family wedding coming up…well, that happened over the weekend. Most of my adult kids and most of the grandkids all went as well so that means I was on Grandma duty and needed to help some with the kids. That means I didn’t get many photos. I ended up “borrowing” a couple from my niece’s Facebook page. I’m guessing she won’t hold that against me. She’s a sweetie.

The wedding was perfect…nice people, great food…it was all good. Stacey, the bride is my niece Jody’s daughter. You might remember that Jody is the niece that I was so close to that passed away in 2019 from breast cancer.

It was a lovely wedding. All of my kids went except my daughter Kalissa’s family. Kalissa is a nurse working overnights and was in the middle of a row of four 12-hour shifts. She had last weekend off for Anders’ baptism so couldn’t get this weekend off too. She was bummed.

This is my sister Judy and her husband George. The are wonderful dancers. Judy was lucky and snagged a husband who dances…and is good at it. They were really close to winning the anniversary dance. They are soon to be married for 54 years.

Thankfully the venue had places we could camp out with the kids. Here is Kelli with Eli and Emmett and Kayla with Japer.

My family stuck to one corner of the dance floor. We had all of the kids and they were very wildly dancing. You can see my son Buck dancing with Lucy.

It is hard. Our family has gotten big enough that we can’t keep track of each so easily anymore. My sister Judy has 20 grandkids and the youngest I’m guessing is 12 with the majority of them being in their late teens to early 20s. I have 10 grandkids and all of mine are much younger. We have three brothers between Judy and I and they all have quite a few grandkids too. We can’t get a place that is big enough to hold us all anymore!!

Anyway, my granddaughter Georgia met her 2nd cousin Brianna. Brianna just graduated from college and is getting married in June. She and Georgia clicked and they were best buddies. It was so cute. We pretty much had to pry Georgia off of her. I love that they made a connection.

We didn’t stay late. I drove and Kelli and her kids rode along with me. We left hoping we might make the two-hour drive before it got dark. We didn’t quite make it. All three of Kelli’s kiddos were sleeping by the time we were one mile down the road.

On the way home Craig, my daughter Kalissa’s husband called. He needed me to babysit on Sunday. They are gearing up to make hay this week at the farm. The equipment wasn’t ready so Craig needed to go to work. I said yes, I’d help out and watch the boys.

I decided to do a bunch of baking as I knew this was going to be a busy week ahead and baking is something I can do with the boys around.

I made chocolate chip cookies (recipe HERE), Puppy Chow (recipe HERE), and Banana Bread.

Craig came around noon and I ran to the sewing room after he left. I was ready for some sewing time.

Yesterday I had Kelli’s kids here along with Gannon and Anders…then Carver came after school.

They were so good in the morning. They played away on the swing set. I got to stitch for about 20 minutes.

I think the kiddos were still tired from the busy weekend. They were sleeping in no time. Here is Georgie and Izzy.

Here are Gannon and Rosie.

I ended up having the kids and their parents here for supper and my son Karl too. Chicken and Noodles (recipe HERE) along with biscuits (recipe HERE) and asparagus with bacon and parmesan cheese was the supper menu.

I will admit, I left the dishes in the sink so I could write this blog post…and to be honest, I’m leaving them there overnight. I earned an hour’s worth of cross-stitch time before bed. Gannon and Anders will be here in the morning and I can do them then. There are worse things than not doing the dishes…This Grandma needed some downtime.

Kayla and Jasper and coming tomorrow and are staying overnight. It’s been a bit since they have been able to do that. I’m so excited. We have plans to go to Carver’s ball game tonight. It’s the first of the season. I have Thursday that so far has nothing going on…Friday is busy and it sounds like I might be getting a foster dog or two over the weekend. Oh my, it’s busy-busy.

  1. Sounds strenuous!
Assuming the duplicate paragraphs are caused by the issues you were having a couple of weeks ago?

  2. I was going to mention the duplication as well. Didn’t hear about the earlier issues mentioned by Margaret. Looks like a fun time at the wedding.

  3. Love the wedding story. We don’t get weddings anymore, everybody is married so I guess we’re waiting on the grandkids lol!! Yes the post was literally twice as long due to repeated paragraphs. No pics were repeated. No complaints though…at least I could read it today!!!

  4. What a fun family time! Thanks for sharing.
I also had duplicate paragraphs but I’m reading this post on my phone where I sometimes have problems. Still enjoyed reading about your fun weekend.

  5. How many children does your sister have to go with 20 grands. With the duplication in this episode of “As Jo’s World Turns” I thought the duplication had something to do with all the kids having litters of kids and it was intentional.

  6. Hi Jo, Love your family news, and Adore the pics of Izzy and Rosie sleeping with the children. Its amazing how Izzy has settled in as if you have had her around for years. Well Done on all you do for fostering those needy dogs looking for a home. I am sure I would have at least a dozen by now if I was you. Good job in being the sensible one!

Enjoyed reading about your family wedding. It brought back memories of when we were kids and attended weddings of family and friends. Sounds like the grands enjoyed themselves too!

The chicken and noodles (and beef) sound great – will have to give it a try. The biscuits look amazing! I appreciate all you share with us.
