I didn’t intend on making this….I didn’t want a new recipe. Â I wanted my old recipe but I’m not sad I got a new recipe.
So Wednesday I was busy cooking getting ready for Thanksgiving. Â Kalissa was hosting us at her house so all I had to do was some cooking. Â I was fine with that…I started out with pies but started the popcorn popper so I could make popcorn balls once the pies were done.
Pies finished…onto popcorn balls. Â All I had was two packs of marshmallows and both were just not quite fresh. Â I decided to give them a try and of course, I burned them in the microwave. Â UGH. Â Now there I was with a huge bowl of popcorn. Â I didn’t want to waste it but knew we’d never eat it all. Â That’s when I remembered that the bag of caramels I had bought had a popcorn recipe on the back. Â I thought I would give it a try.
It was really easy…just tedious to unwrap all the caramels.
Kalissa took this picture of the finished popcorn..her camera didn’t take the best picture. Â Just trust me, it looks better and tastes awesome. Â It gives that yummy boy scout popcorn a run for it’s money!
Here’s the recipe. Â It’s on the Kraft website.
I did make a few alterations. Â I added more popcorn as I didn’t want all the calories and sugar so concentrated. Â I used about 16 cups of popcorn. Â I love peanuts in the mix and find myself picking them out of the mix so I added 1 Â 3/4 cups peanuts.
It was really fast to make. Â I know I’ll be making this again.
Thanks for sharing this, Jo. I’ll be making this soon…probably more than once!
They make caramel bits now, so no more unwrapping!
