Sometime ago I bought this book, Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day….. it got stuck in the back of the cupboard and I forgot about it. Yesterday after a trip to the grocery store and checking out the prices, I decided I wanted to get back to making bread. Not only is it MUCH cheaper, it’s a whole lot tastier.
I pulled out the book and tried the Deli-Style Rye. It’s WONDERFUL. We had company last night and everyone loved it.
If you haven’t seen the book, the premise is that you can mix up bread for four loaves. You can bake some up immediately, or you can put in the refrigerator and bake it sometime over the next week or two. It was such a hit, that I mixed up another batch today.
For our guests, I also made a Strawberry Spinach salad. It was wonderful too. Here’s a link to the recipe….even my husband liked it!
We are expecting an ice storm here…if you don’t hear from me, I’m under a film of ice.
I have some rye bread in the oven ATM from this book. I love but am still trying to convert DH. I’m baking an extra loaf to take to my LQS “sew down” tonight.
We love this stuff. I have been using the recipes from the web. Makes the best pizza dough!
Wow, I’ve had this book in my Amazon Wish List for a few months but have been waffling … all I needed to hear was the review of the rye – it’s going in the basket. Thanks!
I’ve been trying to make bread and mine never turns out. Maybe that book will help.
just saw this post, but wanted to comment that i have this book and absolutely love it! previous post is dead on – makes a great pizza crust.
I bought this book a few weeks ago and we have been enjoying it so much!!! I bought a package of 3 (6 QT) plastic containers at Sam’s Club for about $12. and they work just fine in the fridge!
