Doll Pattern Goodness

I’ve admitted to have a doll pattern fetish. I just love them. The historical ones are my special favorite.

A bit ago I had written about wanting to know about how to predict JoAnn’s Simplicity pattern sales so I could pick a few up. Then a wonderful blog reader got them for me and sent them to me. I was so excited to get them. Then even more excited to see that the designer Keepers Dolly Duds has more patterns. Some are sold independently and more will be released through Simplicity. I loved the new one that would be out soon. I put it on my collection list.

The only problem…typically when we get to JoAnn’s to get them, the new good patterns are sold out. I had an idea to get it and hoped it might work.

We live an hour from Waterloo where JoAnn’s is but only a half hour from Decorah where Wal-Mart is. Being our Wal-Mart has Simplicity patterns I thought I would give their ad match policy a try.

I went in, got my pattern and went to the register. It worked. I got my pattern for 99 cents. I was so happy…no special trip to Waterloo, no waiting at the pattern table, no sold out patterns. PERFECT!!

I’ll likely be trying this again. I checked the designer has this cute pattern that will be coming out this summer….I’m sure I won’t be able to pass it up.

I don’t have time to sew them but I read the patterns and look and look. When it comes to doll clothes, I’m worse than a little kid!

  1. I’m so glad that you were able to get your patterns. I love Keeper Dolly Duds too. I even have some of her PDF patterns that she sells on her Etsy shop. Right now I’m making the one called “Sweet ’70s.” (It seems strange to me to have the ’70s be considered historical since I graduated high school in 1970. But I guess it really was quite a while ago.)
